Registration No: BHY 547HChassis No: SRH7039MOT: ExemptJust 5, 000 miles covered in the last c. 40 yearsFinished in its factory colour scheme of Regal Red paintwork, with Tan leather upholstery and Sandringham Beige carpetsSupplied new to Rossleigh Ltd. of Newcastle at a cost of £6, 095Offered with documented service and MOT historyLaunched in 1965, the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was a bold departure for the Crewe company. Their first monocoque design, it also benefited from olio-pneumatic rear suspension, power disc brakes and GM’s silken 400 series automatic gearbox (though, the latter was not adopted until 1968). Such ‘new technology’ did not encroach on the luxurious interior with its sumptuous leather hides, rich wood veneers and deep lambswool carpets. Performance from the smooth 6, 230cc V8 engine (upgraded to 6, 750cc in 1970) was assured, the car wafting forward on a seemingly unstoppable wave of torque. Still immensely cosseting to drive, Shadows offer a genuinely different ownership experience to their mass made peers. This lovely first-generation Silver Shadow remains in a very correct condition, down to its original colour scheme of Regal Red paint with Tan leather upholstery, Light Fawn headlining and Sandringham Beige carpets. Originally registered ‘RNG 94’ and sold to Rossleigh Ltd. of Newcastle at a cost of £6, 095, the Shadow was known to have been in single long-term ownership, from 1987 to 2019. What is most extraordinary is how little it has been used across its life, despite being regularly MOTed up to 2021. The mileage at the 1988 test was 4, 010 miles; the present figure, backed up by MOTs, is only just shy of 9, 000 miles.Retaining a high degree of originality, notes that car as a ‘beautiful old car that drives as well as it looks, with beautiful patina’. It is supplied with a rich history file including a copy of the original sales invoice, many service invoices, and the original owner’s handbook. The vendor advises that there are some very minor electrical faults which should be straightforward to resolve.
