Originally Dispatched on the 1st of May 1967 in Dubonnet Rosso the all so popular Aston Martin colour of the time. Now the coachwork is presented in stunning Metallic Grey paired beautifully with the very subtle Dark Green leather upholstery.
From our knowledge JVF 997E has had only 4 owners over the years all withholding no expense in terms of the upkeep, this is documented very well within the substantial history file that accompanies the car.
Previous to the current owner, JVF was owned by a Mr D J Golds from 1978 through to 2007. He spotted the car advertised in the Motor Sport Magazine in July 1978 and instantly made the trip to Surrey to see and test drive the car. It is noted the car was in “excellent condition” although the exterior needed tiding. He collected the car on a glorious sunny day along with his engineer, on the way home they took a detour on the way home through London, photographing his new pride and joy in front of famous landmarks in the city.
In 1979 JVF was sent to marque specialist R S Williams in London for restoration works to the exterior, unfortunately, both RSW & the factory in Newport Pagnell were fully booked for some time leading Mr Golds to the factory recommended Peter Smith in Olney, thus instigating a 20-year association. During the 6 month period at Peter Smith’s a young Desmond Smail (now renowned marque specialist) carry out mechanical works on the car.
Due to advancing years and health not quite what is used to be, Mr Golds sold the car to the current owner in 2007. Almost right away the Storm Red coachwork was completely removed and resprayed Metallic Grey.
JVF 997E boasts 88, 000 miles from new which is supported by MOT history dating back to the early 70’s.
