Chassis No. SCFCV81C6GTL15465 Engine No. V/ 585/ 5465/ LFAAston Martin launched the V8 Volante on 21 June 1978, in response to the growing demand for a convertible version, particularly from the U. S.-market. As one of Aston Martin's most iconic models, the Volante remained in production for 11 years, evolving with engineering upgrades while retaining its iconic, muscular character by the renowned engine designed by Tadek Marek. The Volante, as a convertible, exemplified its most captivating form with each example being meticulously hand-built, taking around four months to complete. The most notable changes occurred in 1986, when the model received Weber/ Marelli electronic fuel injection, a redesigned, streamlined flat engine bonnet (the bonnet bulge was no longer needed as it was only to clear the cumbersome Weber carburetors that had been used prior to the 1986 update) giving the car improved aerodynamics.Among the rare 216 Series 2 Volantes with flat bonnet, equipped with Weber/ Marelli electronic fuel injection, this V8 Volante, chassis number 15465, was delivered new to the United States on 27 June 1986, by Palm Beach Motor Cars Ltd. in the striking color combination of Salisbury Blue with Magnolia and Blue interior, according to the information recorded on its Aston Martin Car Record Card, and fitted with an automatic transmission.Michel Urbain, its previous owner who kept it for a dozen years, acquired it in 1993 from the importer Franco Britannic Automobiles in Levallois-Perret. A document in the file summarizes the work carried out during his ownership, notably the conversion to European specification, including, among other work, some performed by Aston Martin Lagonda.The current owner acquired it in December 2005 from Royal Automobiles in Paris. He had the V8 Volante maintained by Carrosserie Lecoq, renowned for the quality and reliability of its work. In 2015, it underwent a major restoration: bodywork, paint, upholstery, interior, general mechanical overhaul, and engine servicing, with the work detailed in invoices and documented in a complete photographic file, available for review.The car also received services and maintenance at SARL Revival Le Mans in 2021, and more recently at YF Historic Racing in July 2025. Its French registration certificate is accompanied by regular and all favorable technical inspection stickers from 2017, 2021, 2023, and 2025, the last of which is valid until summer 2027.
