Incorporating a Ford Boss 302 ‘G Code’ engine married to a Toploader close-ratio manual transmission - renowned for high-performance strength and durability - and an Atlas rear axle, appropriately uprated suspension and brakes, with a final set-up by Uren and his good friend ex F1 driver John Miles. The custom ‘in-period’ paintwork was created by Mechspray, known for their efforts on movie cars and film props, helicopters and F1 racing cars. Appearing on the Mechspray. com photo gallery to this day, the car’s impact saw it featured in the pages of Hot Car magazine in 1977, The Motor magazine and Classic and Sportscar, in 2014. Recently benefitting from a refreshed motor using Peter Knight Racing internals, the engine is said to be capable of running to 8, 000rpm, although it is currently set-up with a 7, 000rpm limit! The original engine parts are included in the sale. An extensive paperwork file supports the provenance and accompanied by an original handbook, service book and press articles. The Stampede is a unique combination of American muscle and European automotive design and is very much a European Mustang and a performance car that is still very tractable. A great opportunity to acquire a very interesting and fast Ford!
