Ford Escort Mk2 1. 6 GL 4dr manual

Recently imported from South Africa,
In 1975 these vehicles were exported from the UK to be assembled and sold in the south African market.
To register these cars in the UK is a simple process, we will supply you with a pre-filled in UK registration application form, just add your details and send it off to DVLA attaching the South African registration document supplied and a copy of your licence/ passport together with a cheque/ postal order for the fee of £55, you will receive a UK registration within 5/ 6 weeks showing you as 1st registered keeper. the vehicle will be M. O. T and TAX exempt.

Here we have a Ford Escort 1. 6 GL Mk2 4dr 1976 right hand drive. manual with 17635km (10957mls) showing on the clock
this is a factory fitted GL vinyl roof edition with vin tag confirmation
For its age this is a good example with hardly any rust
1600cc original crossflow manual with original wheels and good tyres all round.

This car is in good condition, runs and drives great and everything is working as it should.

Seats have some tears/ wear consistent with age but does not detract in anyway from how clean the interior is and being original and complete. The rest is in very good condition throughout including the headlining, carpets, all the dash components look well looked after.

The bodywork is clean, the passenger side front wing has had dents and have been filled previously. the passenger side front door has some denting but doesn't notice until closer inspection.
drivers side rear door has a small repair to hold moulding strip on(request photos of all areas)
floors, chassis rails on both sides are clean.
there is denting to both front floors that can only be described as rock damage but this can easily be corrected(request photos)
in the boot is clean, spare wheel well has a small hole.
engine bay is clean, inner wings, strut tops, wing rails and heater bowl all good, the rare original heater bowl cover has been painted but not in great condition.
all clip on weather seals on the winddown windows are worn, front & rear screen window rubbers have some small amounts of mastic upon them.
paintwork is in its factory colour of cologne blue, this has been redone some time ago and is clean and shiny, the vinyl roof unfortunately has shrinkage tears and obviously needs renewing but this doesn't detract from how well the car looks
to the front a splitter has been fitted

The body is in good condition, engine bay is clean and tidy and mostly everything is in place/ original, the rare original heater bowl cover is present but not in great condition and has been painted . Inner wings are solid as is strut tops, wing rails, heater bowl, boot wells, slam panel, bottom of doors, shuts etc. The passenger wing seems to have been replaced at some point but looks fine. The chassis rails and front floors are all solid.

So Overall for a 46 year old escort that has a few easy jobs that need to be tackled it is a lovely original car and would make anyone proud to own. Ideal if you want to add your own touch to it but it is ready to go and enjoy!
