Offered for sale we have this stunning series 1 1963 Jaguar E Type presented in its factory colours of Carmen Red with Biscuit leather interior. First registered on 23/ 10/ 1963 this vehicle (Number 1426 from the factory) was dispatched from Henlys of London to its first UK owner- Mr David Lochtie, proprietor of the St Michaels Hotel in Leuchars, Scotland. For reasons unknown the car was parked from 1971 until it was purchased as a restoration project in 1984. A comprehensive restoration was carried out over the course of 3 years which resulted in a brand new MOT issued on the 3/ 12/ 1987. Up to this point the car had covered just under 32, 000 miles from new. The current Jaguar enthusiast owner purchased the car in 2003 and after 18 years feels it’s time someone else carries on the cars story. The vehicle today presents much as it must have done after its 1980’s restoration. The work has matured beautifully. The exterior paint and chrome work gleams in the sun with only a few signs of age. The interior has faired similarly well with few signs of wear on both carpets and seat leather. The instruments and gauges all work correctly. The car retains its original Moss gearbox which operates as it should, the clutch was changed as part of the 1980’s restoration and engages cleanly with no juddering or slippage. The 3. 8L straight 6 engine (Also numbers matching and rebuilt as part of the restoration) fires from cold easily runs smoothly. The car has been fitted with upgraded Coopercraft brakes and for reliability a Lucas dynamo has also been installed. There is a meticulously kept service file included with the car including MOT’s from the 60’s onwards, copious hand written records detailing all the previous owners, of all the work carried out including the restoration and everything since. It also contains invoices from these periods. Also present is the Jaguar Daimler heritage trust certificate confirming the matching numbers, build date and original registration (Which is still retains). There is also a photo album containing many photos of the restoration and the cars life after it was returned to the road. The Jaguar E Type needs no introduction and to come across an original UK car with such low mileage is very unusual indeed. Coupled with the cars matching numbers, overall condition and huge service file makes for a very attractive investment.
