Seller's comments about 1966' Jaguar E-Type
History:
‘This Jaguar E is the most beautiful car ever built,’ were the words of the great Enzo Ferrari at the presentation of the Jaguar E-type at the Geneva Motor Show in spring 1961. In addition to the high engine power of the 240 km/ h sports coupé, the design developed by Malcom Sayer was considered particularly exciting, even earning this car a coveted place in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. By 1967, around 31, 699 Series 1 coupés and convertibles with 3. 8-litre and 4. 2-litre engines had been built. This example was produced in 1965 and delivered in the USA on 3 January 1966. We know nothing about its history in the USA. According to FIVA documentation, this rare E Coupé with the fantastic 3-carburettor engine was imported to Switzerland in 1986 and in 2000/ 2001 completely restored and rebuilt by its owner. A corresponding photo documentation is available. After 25 years in the same caring hands of the E-Type enthusiast, this coupé is being sold to a new owner after a fresh inspection and veteran's inspection.Body and paintwork:
The paintwork is very beautiful and in excellent condition. The gaps are excellent and the body is undamaged.Interior:
The interior, which has been professionally maintained, is immaculate and shows little signs of wear after more than 20 years. The headlining is as good as new, as are all the panelling and the variable boot lining.Engine and mechanics:
The engine has excellent performance and emission values. Corresponding protocols available. On delivery to the buyer, a comprehensive inspection is carried out, the carburettors are synchronised and the engine valves are adjusted.Chassis:
The chassis is as good as new, all wearing parts such as shock absorbers, bearing rubbers and brake hoses have been replaced.Driving experience:
The E-type was then - and still is today - an outstanding sports car with Gran Turismo comfort. The low seating position allows sporty driving, while the excellent overview creates a high level of safety. Anyone familiar with the E-type knows that the brakes need to be applied powerfully.Recommendation:
The most beautiful car in the world has always been a safe investment. Particularly in the USA, very high prices are still being achieved for a comparable model with the iconic 3-carburettor engine. The high purchase prices of over USD 200, 000 that we have seen in the USA for years are not achievable in Europe. Honest and clean examples, however, are always realised in the range of the realistic sales price of this S-1 Coupé.
