Seller's comments about 1956' Jaguar XK 140

Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this exquisite 1956 Jaguar XK140 SE roadster. Finished in silver over red interior with a black canvas top, this was a long-term Calfornia car that underwent a frame-off restoration by its original owner in 2001 approximately 10,000 miles ago. It has had two subsequent owners in Florida and South Carolina. Data plate and Heritage Trust Certificate confirm numbers-matching engine and head. Upgrades for improved driving dynamics include a five-speed transmission and front disc brakes. Paint and body present to a very nice standard, with only a few minor flaws. Excellent wire wheels, chrome and glass. Correct wide whitewall crossply tires from Coker Classics. Nicely detailed underneath - clearly garaged and not driven in the rain for two decades. This XK140 was restored by noted Jaguar specialist Jon Pollock in Reseda, California and the quality of the workmanship and attention to detail are self evident. Interior trimmed in red leather presents beautifully with virtually no discernible wear. Sometimes the term older restoration brings to mind a car that feels worn in or even a bit shabby. Not so with this one. Cosmetically it still feels crisp and clean, and mechanically its very well sorted. Under the hood is the original numbers-matching 3.4 liter XK twin-cam inline six, but instead of the original four-speed manual transmission the gearbox has been upgraded to a Tremec five-speed unit. The XK140 SE (also known as the MC) got a higher-compression C-type head good for 20 more horsepower than the standard non-SE/MC cars. We picked this car up at our clients home on Hilton Head and enjoyed a lovely drive back to Savannah in it - the engine starts easily and runs very smoothly, the five-speed gearbox feels very precise and is a considerable upgrade from the original four-speed, and the stopping within a safe distance is assured thanks to the disc brake upgrade. The chassis feels very composed and we did not observe any squeaks, clunks or rattles. This is a fine example for either touring or shows, with just the right performance upgrades to suit modern driving styles.
