1954' Jaguar XK

This magnificent sporty vehicle is owned by a classic car enthusiast who has been keeping, caring for and driving great classic cars for over 33 years. For example, at the Ennstal-Classic or the Kitzbüheler Alpenrallye, the car was already a participant to be admired and is always a highlight and a welcome guest at events.

The XK 120 began in 1948, when Jaguar first presented it in London. With this appearance, it was no wonder that the XK immediately took the limelight in the automotive industry and caused a sensation as an elegant sports car. Not only a sweeping line, but also the fortunate circumstance to install a "six-cylinder in-line" in a small compact sports coupé was extraordinary! Since you can imagine from the narrow body at almost 1.6m that this is not a space saver, the classic still manages to put a smile on the faces of enthusiasts over 1.8m tall thanks to its sporty dynamics and top speeds of up to 210 km/h to conjure. For those times, this was of course extremely fast for a production vehicle!

Looking back, the Jaguar pictured was imported from the USA to Austria in 2009 as left-hand drive, then disassembled down to the last screw and rebuilt. The paint was stripped down to the sheet metal, repainted in "British Racing Green" and the interior was re-leathered in "Cognac" and finally given an Austrian historical individual approval. Considering that the restoration was done 14 years ago, the car is in good condition. Normal and age-appropriate signs of wear can be assumed from regular trips. §57a sticker check valid until July 2024 is available and a toothed belt replacement was recently arranged.

Optimizations on the vehicle can be listed as follows:
- Fitting of non-standard disc brakes from the British manufacturer Coopercraft on the front wheels (must be checked/post-typed if necessary) - fully synchronized 5-speed gearbox (2nd gear synchronized up and down, overrevving at full throttle in the last gear not possible) - bucket seats ( original seat available) - high-performance cooler - batteries moved from the rear to the front - seat belts - carpets in original color - "Hella" fog lights - reinforced clutch - heat insulation between exhaust system and brake lines - door sills made of stainless steel - front bumpers dismantled, but present - stainless steel exhaust system

If we break down the chassis number, the identifier "SE" (Special Equipment) tells us that this was a special model ex works with 20 hp more and more extensive equipment with spoked wheels, a double pipe exhaust system and harder springs on the wheel suspension. In the jargon, the namesake XK 120 "M" was also used here, which referred to the same model and stood for "Modified in the USA".
The vehicle offered here has an in-line six-cylinder engine. The registration shows 140 DIN kW, the equivalent of approx. 190 horsepower.
Based on the fact that only 753 Special Equipment models of the Fixed Head Coupé were built, one can say that this special model is a special object in automotive history.
