Seller's comments about 1979' Jaguar Xkss Recreation
The example of a Jaguar XKSS recreation shown here has little to do with the usual replicas available on the market. According to people familiar with the brand and this example, there are almost more original parts here than on the 2018 continuation models from Jaguar.
The vehicle was built by Realm Automotive under Adrian Cocking based on a Formula 2 tubular frame by Adrian Reynard as a demonstration car and was first registered in July 1979.
In 1996, the car came to its second owner in Germany and has an H registration. It is currently in third hand.
Naturally built as an RHD, the XKSS is painted in the colours of Ecurie Ecosse, has a black leather interior and is finished with the original Hardura Tex.
The car is powered by an original Jaguar 3. 8 ltr unit, engine no. LB 7711-9, built in 1961.
The engine was completely rebuilt in 2022/ 23. Mahle pistons, new cylinder liners, polished and finely balanced crankshaft,... Work is photo and invoice documented and carried out by a recognised Jaguar specialist. The cylinder head was overhauled, new valve guides, new valves, new chains, the Weber twin carburettors overhauled.
Gearbox and overdrive were overhauled and rebuilt, new clutch, new high-performance starter.
New high-performance radiator with new, reinforced electric fan, new stainless steel radiator expansion tank.
New stainless steel exhaust system, in the same position and size as the original.
New adjustable custom-made Öhlins shock absorbers, new Dunlop racing tyres, 8 Dunlop rims, 4 in aluminium, 4 in aluminium/ steel
New side windows and frame in correct design and dimensions
Only Jaguar parts are fitted to the vehicle. The body is made of GRP, the doors, bonnet and tailgate are made of aluminium.
All details of the interior correspond to the original (including the different sized seats), and all rivets on the vehicle have been installed in the same position and size as the original.
The vehicle has static harness belts and built-in automatic harness belts.
The total mileage is approx. 27, 330 miles, approx. 1050 miles since the engine overhaul.
Two folders document all work and document the XKSS in its original condition and as a recreation.
The vehicle is in the hands of enthusiasts and will only be passed on to them. There is also a surprise in store.
