Details of the restoration work include:
New replica Richards galvanised age related chassis correctly finished in gloss black as per factory original
Axels stripped, shot blasted and rebuilt with all new seals, bearings and front swivels
New rear leaf springs, 4 new shock absorbers and Dunlop rear straps
All new brakes including LOF front brake drums, Mintex shoes, TRW slave cylinders and TRW master cylinder, Girling hose's and all new copper pipe's
New clutch, master and slave cylinders
Gearbox stripped, cleaned, inspected and rebuilt with wear parts replaced as required
Engine stripped and rebuilt with new piston rings and big end bearings
Head stripped cleaned, valves reground and fitted with new valve guides and seals
Fuel injectors reconditioned
New fuel tank and genuine filter
New replica Auto Sparks loom and genuine Lucas voltage regulator
All Lucas steel unit indicators, side lights, stop tail lights are correct to the age of the vehicle
New Series 2A doors and alloy outer wings
The bulkhead was in great order and has been blasted and then rebuilt with genuine fluted footwells and all internal parts have been painted with an internal frame coating paint and then waxoiled
All rivets are correct solid alloy dome or capped end pot rivets as per original
All re-galvanised capping's, windscreen surround etc
New Exmoor trim galvanised roof hoops and canvas hood
Rebuilt steering box and relay
New exhaust
New seats and seat belts
5 new 750/ 16 tyres and wheels blasted and repainted in the correct limestone paint
New copper radiator as per original
Starting handle, jack handle and wheel brace are all present
With less than 100 miles since full restoration this beautiful Series 2A drives exceptionally well with smooth gear changes and a great positive steering feel and as Series Land Rovers go it’s lovely to drive.
Reliable with the strong rebuilt diesel engine and finished to a great standard this Series is ready to go and be enjoyed come rain or shine.
