For sale, through JOHN BROWN 4X4 LTD, Land Rover® Series 3 Truck Cab in Marine Blue (1972). Petrol 2286cc. MOT & Tax Exempt. Truck Cab with 3/ 4 Sand Canvas Tilt. 750 Tyres – BF Goodrich All Terrain with Matching Spare in Rear. Deluxe Interior with Door Cards, Armrest and Pockets and a fully lined interior roof. Side Steps. Recent Galvanised Front Bumper. Servo Assisted Brakes. Previously sold by us in 2014. We are delighted to present for sale this 1972 Series 3, presented in “3/ 4” Truck Cab format with sand canvas and limestone wheels. We have actually had the pleasure of previously selling this vehicle over 10 years ago – and were delighted to be provided the opportunity to sell it again to the next owner – with it having been a dear family friend for the last decade as the children grew up! Externally, this has all the things we’d hope to see from a “good”, early Series 3 – the recent galvanised front bumper, the wing top mounted mirrors, the spare which is correctly stowed in the back, rear mud flaps, the truck cab roof with fitting bar and 3/ 4 sand canvas on the rear – just as it should be. It is nice to see that it has been previously treated to a full matching set of BF Goodrich All Terrain tyres… these are generally accepted as the very best cross-climate compromise for off and on-road ability, no matter the age of Land Rover® one has. On the inside, there are three front deluxe seats, with deluxe matting to the footwells. There are door cards with not only door pockets, but also arm rests – a nice feature which one doesn’t commonly see. The interior front has also benefitted in times past from a re-trimmed roof, as the photos show. We’re a real fan of these truck cabs for a few reasons – first being the small, lockable cabin…. handy for security and also much easier to heat in the winter, which is very welcome. In addition to that, the sliding truck cab windows allows the driver to choose when to share the cabin with the passengers or items in the rear – giving the best of both possibilities. Anyone who has ever needed to lug logs, coal, or anything “fragrant” (such as a very muddy dog or bike!) will appreciate the opportunity to seperate themselves at will. The rear has been reinforced with chequerplate to protect against damage, and the spare is correctly stowed on the bulkhead, right where it should be. Out on the road, this Series 3 is a joy to drive, with servo assisted brakes meaning superior performance and the cross climate tyres improving road holding ability. The added benefit of the larger wheels and tyres over standard gives increased gearing, and a more relaxed cruise too. There is a plethora of receipts from the last 10 years showing that it has been maintained above and beyond the recommended specs, and has wanted for nothing during this period. Even our original sales receipt from 2014 is still in the paperwork… a real blast from the past for us! In summary, if you are looking for a Series 3 which is ready to be used in the summer, and then “deployed” in the winter when the weather inevitably bites, then this could be for you. With the added bonuses of a petrol engine and tax and MOT exemption alongside classic insurance, it should prove to once again be a loyal companion for the new owner. Priced at £18, 995
