I know this car very well indeed having bought if from the first owners back in 2009, who'd saved hard for this car, to realise their dream of owning a Mercedes-Benz, when it actually meant something, unlike today where anyone can have one if you can afford the monthly payments.I've sold F42 WCX four times over the last 14 years. Its one of those "Peter Pan" cars that doesn't seem to age at all and drives as good as the day I bought it from Mr & Mrs Sawyer back in 2009; this is because every owner has continued with the maintenance schedule, and kept the car in tip top shape. I felt obligated to continue with the maintenance of the car, and have spent a considerable amount of time and money in it's preparation, which included a head gasket replacement. Whilst the head was off I also had it skimmed, pressure tested and new valve seals fitted as a precaution, I also did quite a lot of work to the cooling system as many components were aging so ended up replacing the water pump, thermostat and radiator too. These pre-facelift W124's are really starting to come into their own now; I've been specialising in the W201 and W124's for almost twenty years now, and have always maintained the W124's from '88,'89 & '90 are by far the best made, the absolute sweet spot being MY 09/ 88, that is cars made between September 1988 to August 1989; F42 WCX comes from March 1989, right in the middle of that period, so I'd say its the pinnacle. There's no problems with wiring looms and the engine runs a Duplex timing chain, designed to last the life of the engine and the bodywork is made to a very high standard. So, if your looking for a well sorted W124, with water tight provenance from the height of Mercdes-Benz heyday, this is it.THE MTSV DIFFERENCEUnlike some, I don’t just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won’t notice…I just couldn’t do that. The cars I source are carefully selected and I work very hard so that when my cars leave me, I have the satisfaction of knowing they are as good as they possibly can be within the constraints I have. As such I have many repeat customers and new customers that have been recommended via word of mouth…the ultimate accolade for anyone in business.
