Seller's comments about 1973' Mercury Cougar

So you want a drop-top classic, but you also want something rare and luxurious? This 1973 Mercury Cougar convertible gives you all of this with sleek paint, V8 power, plenty of amenities, and a value price. The Cougar was built to be a Mustang in a dinner jacket, and this red exterior convertible with a crisp black convertible top just seems to deliver on this sporty sophistication. And that added class is also reflected in the level of care this one has seen over the years. The gloss of the paint and the straightness of the body panels show off a well-respected Merc. And we can understand why this deserved reverence. Ford/Mercury people know the significance of the 1973 Cougar. The following year would switch platforms where the Cougar would grow in size and weight, and there was no convertible option. The 1974 Cougar was no longer the Mustangs upscale companion, which is why this final-year drop-top has a forever-coveted place in vintage car crowds. So when you see the bright waterfall grille, classic wire wheel covers, and stylized bumper/taillight combo you see how this is a great way to celebrate the end of an era. While this looks good with the top up, its even better with the top down. Thats because the white seats with black and white striped cloth inserts are so distinct. And theres a premium feeling here that comes from the right premium features. Theres a power convertible top, power windows, a classic-style Clarion AM/FM/cassette stereo, and provisions for air conditioning (its running modern R134a refrigerant but will likely need a recharge to blow ideally cold.) This is a driver-ready car, and so it has a driver-ready feel. High-back front bucket seats, a center console in-between, a dual-spoke steering wheel, and recessed round gauges give you both a comfortable and very vintage driving feeling. Open the hood and youll see an engine bay that looks quite correct. At the center is a Cleveland 351 cubic-inch motor. These V8s have a nice reputation for hardy power, and this one looks well-maintained, right down to the hoses. Its a strong-runner that makes for a solid cruiser. Add in the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, and front disc brakes, and this is the convertible thats easy for any day of the week. This is the rare classic from a defining year - less than 4,500 Cougar convertibles were produced (only about 1,200 in standard form.) And because this example is eager for a drive whenever youre ready, you can see how you have a distinct classic thats fun to show off everywhere. Call today!!!
