Seller's comments about 1958' MG MGA

The MGA was introduced in 1955 as the successor to the MG TF, and it represented anything but a minor evolution. Whereas earlier MGs still featured separate fenders, running boards, and a fairly upright body, the MGA received a smooth, fully integrated, and far more modern design. It was almost as though MG had leapt forward twenty years in a single move. The foundations of the design had been laid earlier, when MG designer Syd Enever created a streamlined body for a racing car entered at Le Mans. The lines proved so successful that they ultimately formed the basis for an entirely new production model. The name MGA made it immediately clear that this was not simply another version of an existing MG. It marked the beginning of something new.Although the open Roadster is probably the best-known version, the Coupé may well have the most elegant proportions of them all. The fixed roof flows beautifully into the rounded bodywork. This is not merely a sports car for sunny Sunday drives, but a compact MG you can enjoy even when the weather is less than perfect. There is no need to stop simply because a dark cloud appears on the horizon.Under the hood is the 1, 489 cc four-cylinder engine, equipped with twin SU carburetors and paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The MGA is light, easy to place on the road, and wonderfully direct. The low seating position, long hood, and simple interior ensure that even a relaxed drive feels instantly special. This particular example was restored and mechanically rebuilt in the Netherlands. It was a comprehensive undertaking in which the body was rebuilt from the ground up. This MG presents beautifully throughout. The bodywork, paint, interior, and detailing come together as one carefully finished whole. The restoration is also extensively documented with photographs and invoices. The body is finished in British Racing Green, paired with a dark green interior. It is a color combination that feels almost inevitable on a classic MG, yet it works particularly well here. The dark cabin complements the exterior beautifully and gives the Coupé a calm, almost distinguished presence. The wheels emphasize the car’s understated, purposeful character and give it exactly the right 1950s appearance.A Heritage Certificate is also included. On the road, the MG feels taut, well sorted, and precisely as you would expect from an MGA rebuilt with such care and attention.Interested?
