Seller's comments about 1971' Porsche 911

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at Race Retro 2026 - Collectors' Cars on Saturday the 21st of February, Stoneleigh Park, Stoneleigh Rd, Coventry, CV8 2LG.
According to its accompanying Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this charming 911T completed production on 01/ 03/ 1971 finished in Metallic Blue / 8484, with the interior trimmed in Beige Leatherette with Corduroy Inlays and was optioned from new with alloy wheels 6x15 with tyres, stabiliser front 20mm / rear 18mm, chrome trims on wheel housing, comfort equipment – leather steering wheel, instruments and oil tank like 911S and coloured windows. It was a left-hand drive home market car supplied to its firs owner via the Porsche Centre in Düsseldorf.

This 911 was imported into the UK by Classic Cars of Bridlington on 11 October 1982 and initially purchased by D. Carmichael and in 1983 retrimmed the car in pale blue leatherette with grey herringbone cloth inserts. He retained ownership until 1989 and later that year it was acquired by our vendor, who enjoyed the car for the next 37 years. Following its acquisition, the Porsche was stored for a period before undergoing a comprehensive restoration programme.

Between 1996 and 2009, the car was restored, including stripping and shot-blasting the body, fitting new door closing panels and sills, and replacing the front and rear bumpers. The car was subsequently repainted in a stunning shade of Arden Blue. It was returned to the road and MOT’d on 28 May 2009, at which point the recorded mileage stood at 141, 431 kilometres.

Mechanical works carried out during and following the restoration included inspection of the timing chains, with modified tensioners already fitted and understood to be serviceable, installation of a new oil tank, stainless-steel heat exchangers and silencer, and a new clutch. The transmission was overhauled by Club Autosport, with synchromesh components and bearings renewed. The braking system was serviced, with calipers reseated and hoses, pipes and the handbrake cable replaced. Suspension work included four new shock absorbers, replacement lower front ball joints and modified track rods.

Further maintenance carried out in 2014, at approximately 151, 412 kilometres, included stripping and re-bushing the carburettor bodies using overhaul kits, fitting electronic ignition and subsequent tuning on a rolling road. The odometer indicated 179, 253 kilometres (111, 383 miles) at the time of cataloguing and the car is accompanied by a history file dating back to its UK importation in 1982.

This early 911 T from 37 years ownership, has benefited from much work during current ownership but it's also been extensively used, including being driven to and from the Le Mans 24 Hours and Le Mans Classic events on 12 occasions, now that's confidence.

Sensibly guided, we encourage your inspection at our Race Retro Collector Car Sale.
