Seller's comments about 1973' Rover P6

We last sold this impressive Rover P6 3500 S back in 2015 to one of our long term regular customers up in Gateshead. Since then we have had many P6’s but only two 3500 S models, good examples are not that easy to come by and as result, we are very pleased to once again own this very correct car. Our P6 is a RHD Home Market example that left the factory on the 17th February 1973 finished as it is today in Lunar Grey with Black roof, and Black upholstery. UOA 368L was then supplied new by Mann Egerton Ltd in Chelmsford, Essex and the Rover has led a fairly sheltered life.
When the Rover first came to us in 2015 it had a recorded mileage of 76, 000 and from the condition of the car, and paperwork this was believed genuine and correct. It was a mileage commensurate with the general original condition of the car and came to us with an original handbook, spare keys and a file of paperwork dating back to 1997 when the mileage was recorded at 62400. Invoices also were, and are still on file for bodywork in 2001, and then in 2007 a brake overhaul.
Having never required full restoration, the car presented well as a good, strong and honest original car.
On its arrival in 2015 it sold fairly quickly to one of our long term customers who commissioned a bare metal re-spray with us in the cars original colour of Lunar Grey. We also re-located the spare wheel from the boot lid to inside the boot compartment, serviced the car and handed it over with a recorded mileage of 76474 miles. The Rover then made the 90 mile trip to Gateshead via A and B roads faultlessly. To say the 3500S has been enjoyed by it last owner is an understatement, in nine years of ownership the car has covered 17, 000 miles, averaging almost 1900 miles per year. Three beautifully handwritten notebooks log every single journey since 2015, recording the mileage and relevant notes to many places of interest across North of England. The Rover has attended many rallies, events and runs out across Northumberland, Cumbria, Tyne & Wear, Durham and Yorkshire and has proven an incredibly reliable, robust and usable classic that can be taken anywhere with total confidence.
As expected with the mileage over nine years, the Rover has had to be well maintained. It has been regularly serviced, had a new starter motor, electronic ignition, two new Vredestein tyres, suspension ball joint dust covers, new brake light switch, new power steering belt, new De Dion tube kit and seals, renewed master cylinder and the gearbox stripped and rebuilt with new bearings, gaskets and seals. The Rover has also been MOT tested each year for peace of mind and now comes back to us as its last owner is ready for his next classic. Now with 93700 miles, this lovely honest Rover will be once again put through our workshops for preparation, and we genuinely believe it will give its next owner just as much enjoyment as with its last careful, delighted owner. 17000 or so miles on since we last had the Rover, we will be carrying out a small amount of careful cosmetic detailed preparation work, some bodywork/ metal work and paint to the lower valance, and a replacement radio, so please do call or e-mail for further information.
