A very regrettable sale of my childhood dream car, a 1967 lhd volkswagen karmann ghia coupe, imported from sunny ventura ca prior to lockdown, garaged and massively improved upon since.

built and painted in california in a true 'cal look' style with raked suspension and plenty of poke.

1 previous registered u. k owner, showing 9000 miles on the clock, mot and tax exempt.

completely dry and rot free car with a freshly built and chirpy 1641 on new dual empi 34 carbs, with new tri mil muffler, new clutch, clutch bearing and flywheel, new electrics, lowered adjustable narrowed beam, new track rods, new hip-po ht leads, new coil, oil temperature and pressure monitor gauges and far too many other new components to list. Scat dragfast t shifter linked to a late gt 4 speed box sorts the gearing with new oil seal input shaft and crank seal.

being the very desirable and sought after ‘67 model year it’s a proper stopper with discs all round, fronts recently serviced.

solid chassis and all inner panels have been treated to dinitrol cavity sealant.

new cal look window rubbers, new seat belts over immaculate 60s ford mustang recliners that are extremely comfortable.

chrome is generally very good, including towel rail bumpers, having been removed with new rubbers and bolts fitted. Chrome pop out rear windows are fully operational and in very good condition.

chrome polished porsche 912 style steel wheels have a ring of surface rust but overall look very nice with new tyres all round..

comes with a lovely presentable file containing u. s certs, service documents and receipts from larrys foreign car/ bugrunner of ventura, machine 7, heritage, just kampers and california classics uk.

can't emphasise enough how the photos really don’t do it justice, it looks lovely with no nasty dents or scratches. Painted around ten years ago it's held up well with only a small handful of paint blisters on the passenger side front wing (these don't jump out).

interior colour is finished in a slightly different shade of porsche maritime blue, which in the style of many california hot rods works very well and with a tidy interior is a very nice to be.

with it's lowered adjustable suspension the driving experience is close to that of a vintage porsche, it's down one notch at the back and currently and only as experiment with a few hundred yards of use has it sat this low at the front and will be raised slightly imminently.

performance is good, it peels off the line very well and keeps up with modern cars quite nicely with a nice throaty but traditional aircooled note.

it will fit in very nicely but won’t blow the concourse show scene and is certainly not for the purist… doesn’t have a polished mirror effect floor or a trophy cabinet in tow but does have a very small amount of imperfections, is very adorable, turns heads and is always pleasantly commented on.

in a nutshell:
an on the button and well tuned, a reliable and rising-in-value classic car that needs nothing other than to be enjoyed and is only being sold due to a classic mercedes project.

inspection is welcomed and encouraged, that said tyre kickers are not. This car is owned by and being advertised by a vw enthusiast of nearly 40 years and a previous vw magazine writer.

politely, offers are invited but silly ones will be ignored.

no agents or px required thanks.
