Austin 12/4 Ascot
1936 VL7773

Purchased by Baines Ltd the Austin dealership in Gainsborough,Lincolnshire and used on trade plates for the first 800 miles then sold to Mr Slinger for £145.

Mr Slinger was a farmer and used the car to pull a trailer to the market most weeks ,hence the 2 chrome bolts and strengthen back bumper.
During his free time Mr Slinger acted as a special constable for the Lincolnshire constabulary there is a small power point on the dash board to plug in the Police sign that used to stick to the windscreen.

After 49 years of ownership and at the ripe old age of 82 Mr Slinger gave up driving and sold the Austin to Mr and Mrs J Hall of West Sussex in 1985.

The Halls overhaul the car with a new coat of paint and basic engine rebuild.
The cars still has the original carpets and leather seats plus the working blinds and magazine net in the roof lining.

After 8 years of little use the Austin was sold.

Mr and Mrs Willett purchased the Austin in 1993. During there ownership the Austin made a trip to Ireland and parts of Wales, but was mostly used on high days and holidays around the Sussex lanes.

After 22 years of ownership and due to the fact the car had been in dry store for 8 years, the Willetts agreed to sell the Austin to another family member Jeremy Palmer who recommissioned the car and drove it to its new home in Plymouth Devon in March 2015.

Since that time the Austin has covered over 5000 stress free miles, including 2 trips to the Goodwood revival in West sussex, a week’s holiday to Derby via Wales and in November 2016 was part of a display at the NEC National Classic Car Show.Registered keepers 4 on the book but 3 families
