Commentaires du vendeur sur 1949' Renault Eight
Advertised on behalf of owner. This is the rarest of opportunities! To purchase one of only three known survivors ( the other two I believe to be in Australia) of a London Renault Acton built 1949 Renault Eight, assembled in the above now loing gone Renault factory from a knocked down kit, but also using a high percentage of 'home grown' parts to comply with post war production legislation. Outwardly similar to its more common LHD European cousin, interior trim and Lucas electrics differ. Purchased from the original family owners in 2006, the Eight had slumbered for over 33 years, the owners father had bought the car new and used it for family holidays to Bournemouth. It's current owner embarked, with my help on a long restoration, mindful of the cars rarity and history and not wishing to produced another 'catalogue reproduction car', many of the original areas have been retained, in particular the interior delights the occupant, giving a real sense of what a cross country journey would have been like before the days of multi lane roads. The Eight is 'on the button' and, after a full bare metal respray and mechanical overhaul which included a full engine rebuild by renowned white metal specialist Cotteralls of Derbyshire to the correct 903cc sidevalve engine, we completed many hundreds of miles participating in the annual Juvaquatre event in 2014 in Upper Normandy, entirely under the Eights own steam, no trailers here! The car is available to view, and I will make the necessary arrangements.
