Are you familiar with the Singer marque (pronounced 'Sing-er', as in the sewing machines... but no!)? It's a post-war family saloon: a well-finished model and technologically advanced for its time. Our example is the sole survivor of the 5 ex-examples imported into France by Jacques Savoye. This Singer SM 1500 presents in beautiful, well-preserved condition. Very rounded shapes; a faux-leather (simili) brown interior which gives it a lovely colour harmony with its British Racing Green bodywork; a sober painted faux-wood dashboard, fitted with complete and functional instrumentation; a pretty radiator grille (eight chrome bars) and its left-hand drive steering wheel (rare for a British car!).Equipment and mechanicals - rare options for the time!4-cylinder engine, 1497cc, 48bhp, smooth and durableSingle inverted carburettor4-speed manual gearbox - partial synchromeshCircuit breakerDrum brakes front and rearVertical chrome radiator grille, typical of the eraSpacious and comfortable cabin - front and rear central armrestsCounter-opposed doors - small step to climb in and a central pillarIndicator armsHeater and reversing lightA singular history linked to the British Crown that became its legendWe are in 1953, the year of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation. A small problem with the crown: British jewellers called upon M. Lipeck, a renowned French jeweller, to remedy the issue. The jewel returned in time for the future Queen's coronation, and to thank M. Lipeck, this Singer SM1500, imported by Jacques Savoye, was gifted to him.The car was restored a few years ago. Still well maintained by its former owners, a file of invoices attests to this; this Singer comes with its period documentation, logbook and workshop manual. This Singer, with its chubby, rounded face, attracts onlookers, who struggle to recognise it; it sports a silhouette typical of British cars of the era.Once settled behind the wheel, with Queen Elizabeth II in a medallion to the right of the glovebox, she gives you a little wink; you are in great comfort and at ease for a drive. The Singer offers you a pleasant journey back in time, with its engine that sounds perfectly like the curious noise... of a sewing machine!Little known over here, I invite you to discover it through a road test to appreciate its qualities.Classic car registration (collection) 9cvWorkshop serviceRoad-preparation package €250 (fuel, cosmetic preparation, safety pack)Registration documents and administration not included in the priceThe SM (Sa Majesté!) 1500 is rare in the United Kingdom, highly sought after for its charming old-fashioned character and simple mechanics.Classic car enthusiasts and aficionados, here is a rare opportunity!
