Commentaires du vendeur sur 1946' Riley Hamilton Special

On offer on behalf of the Vendor is this unique one off Hamilton Riley Special. The car was bought a few years ago, it was bought in the uk. Because it is difficult to get a Dutch license plate it is better to sell it back to someone in the uk. This Riley is built by a Riley engineer in the 50ties. He died and his son wanted to restore the Hamilton. But he became sick and had to sell the car before it was ready. The car has now been fully restored in Holland. The Hamilton is beautifully built & technically very good. It is a very sporty Barchetta with tubular chassis, XK brakes and wheels , special built axles and a pathfinder 2.5 Litre engine. Car handles very well and steering is very positive.
The Car is located in Holland but is UK registered.

A few years ago I bought in the uk the Riley Hamilton. Because it is difficult to get a Dutch license plate it is better to sell it back to someone in the uk. This Riley is built by a Riley engineer in the 50ties. He died and his son wanted to restore the Hamilton. But he became sick and had to sell the car before he was ready. The car has finished his restoration in holland. The Hamilton is beautifully built ,technically very good. It is a very sporty barchetta with tubular chassis, XK brakes and wheels , special built axels and a pathfinder 2,5 l engine. Car handles very good and steering is very good.
It is better to bring the Hamilton back to the UK because of the fact that it is difficult to get a Dutch license plate. The Hamilton is a technically very well built car. Very strong and well sorted parts. Expensive suspension etc. He has a steel body. For myself I wanted to rebuild the body in Aluminium and change the back of the car a little bit. But that is not needed because of it’s weight in relation to the power of the engine. The car has plenty of power.
This 1946 Hamilton Special is a one-off custom built from the parts of several noteworthy old British cars, including a Riley engine, AC drive axle, and Jaguar gearbox, brakes, and wheels. Restored partially by the original builder’s son and completed by the seller, they say that the steel-bodied car is easy to drive and fast with excellent handling. The car has classical long hood/short deck styling in profile, and though details like the wide, somewhat stodgy looking windshield frame and rather abrupt tail aren’t as slickly resolved as they might be, the also add quite a bit of character that’s totally in keeping with the car’s home-made personality. Note the rear wheel radiuses and modified Riley grille. Sidepipes are cool, but may not be mirrored on the other side. Riley twin cam. Displacing 2.5 liters for about 110 HP, cams are actually mounted high in the block, just underneath intake and exhaust ports. Jaguar XK parts include its 4-speed transmission, brakes, and wire wheels, while the rear axle is from a 2.0 liter AC.
