Comentários do vendedor sobre 1949' Austin Atlantic

Austin Atlantic Convertible 1949 Red with cream leather interior. Australian delivered and located in Brisbane, Australia. Restored with loads of parts replaced or refurbished. Instruments professionally restored and interior looks excellent with new professionally made leather seats to original specifications. Full body off, rotisserie restoration. Engine and the car runs very well. Never road registered since the restoration in 2016, as I moved overseas.

All the hydraulics were replaced, and brand new “old stock” hydraulic rams and pipes etc restored or replaced but it just needs the hydraulic system re-commissioned. Moved overseas before it could be finished. The soft top frame is fully renovated but the canvas was never replaced which is the only other thing I can think of still to complete. I have had quotes for about $1200 to $1500 for this work.

Steering wheel replaced to original specs, some new window glass and most rubber seals replaced, almost everything that was chromed was re-chromed to keep it original as possible, etc etc. Dashboard knobs all rebuilt to original standard. Have an original handbook and workshop manual, although not the originals from the actual car. Radiator stripped and rebuilt, new water pump, new hoses etc etc.

Have a few spare parts that are hard to get hold of, including electronic ignition that was never fitted (as the car runs so well as it is).

This car attracts so much attention !

This car, with its power top and door glass was seen as unheard of in Britain during 1948, with a switch controlling the up and down movement of the top in around 22 seconds. Other inclusions were the Ecko radio, adjustable steering and heating.  The speed of this car was really impressive being one of only a handful that could top 145 km/h. It could manage 0 - 96 km/h in around 16.6 seconds and even though petrol was still rationed at this time, 25 mpg could still be attained.

The convertible ceased to be produced in 1951 after only 2 years in production so they are now very rare. Although it is not known exactly how many survive, it is most likely in the order of around 70 in Australia, made up of both convertibles and hardtops (coupes).
