Seller's comments about 1972' Alfa Romeo Giulia

Beautiful 1972 Giulia Super with a superbly naughty character!
Rebuilt from head to toe in the spirit of the revered Alfaholics creations, this LHD, 4-door saloon is ‘not quite’ to factory specification; it is a genuine wolf in sheep's clothing.
Whilst an Alfaholics masterpiece could run to more than a quarter of a million, this example, with its high build standard and vast, uncompromising list of Alfaholics components, is more than enough fun.
Aided by trusted Alfaholics friends and agents, Balocco Classics, in the Netherlands, the base car was sourced and inspected, and ultimately selected due to its very solid and original condition. This was the quaint and unassuming Alfa we first met 2 years ago.
During the last 18 months or so, It has been transformed into the little jewel you see advertised here. Little would you know that under the surface lies race developed specification, boasting over 160 bhp, and a chassis to match the performance; all weighing in at just 920 kg.
Built with the objective of exceptional quality, yet remaining true to the authentic Giulia blueprint. As such it retains many original features, including the now (much) more lively original 1. 6 litre engine.
The specification listed here is impressive:
* The engine upgrades are derived from the latest competition engineering, and they include race crankshaft, forged race pistons, a pair of Weber 40 DCOE carburettors and a banana manifold with stainless steel exhaust system.
* The 5 speed transmission has been rebuilt and upgraded with a closer ratio gear set, quick-shift and limited slip differential, plus a competition paddle clutch kit. Race half shafts and propshaft, GTA-R diff oil sump, 16 row oil cooler.
* Alfaholics supplied the GTR-A fully adjustable suspension package. This is rose jointed and features much more adjustment and control than ever was dreamt of in 1970’s Milan.
Further additions include:
* Dual circuit Alfaholics GTA-R brakes with 4 piston calipers and Superleggera rear discs.
* Upgraded Burman steering box.
* Alfaholics cooling system with large aluminium radiator and electric fan.
* Upgraded fuel system; lines, pump, filter and tank.
* Lightweight battery, 123 distributor, Alfaholics GTA-R fuse box and wiring loom.
First impressions can be deceiving; the body, whilst appearing standard, is rather different to the original specification. During the build, the underside and inner shell were painstakingly cleared of all factory underseal and sound deadening, then fully inspected, with any corrosion issues rectified. Additional strengthening was added as per Alfaholics recommendations. The shell was then seam welded to ensure the best possible platform for the planned upgrades, with consideration for any further performance upgrades.
It has been comprehensively treated with rust protection, followed by a coat of body coloured Raptor Paint and then sprayed with clear Dinitrol in preparation for the rebuild. Lightweight Dynamat soundproofing was fitted before final preparation and then, the Dutch blue top coat.
The front windscreen was replaced with a new heated screen from Alfaholics, while the side windows and rear screen were replaced with lightweight, hard coated Lexan alternatives. The bonnet is carbon fibre, painted to match and installed with all new seals and fittings.
The external lights have been replaced with an LED upgrade for the headlights, and mesh inner headlight grilles venting to the under-bonnet area.
In order to retain this Giulia’s authentic feel, the bumpers, grilles, badges, window surrounds, dash trim, handles and switchgear were refurbished and reused.
The original seats and door panels have been fully refurbished using high-quality red leather and black Alcantara, and a new headliner installed.
Whilst there is no radio, you do have a Bluetooth speaker system with controls cleverly hidden in the front ashtray. Mind you, we doubt you’ll use it much when you have the hot and excitable four cylinder twin cam on twin Webers to listen to!
Enormously fun to drive, with spirit aplenty, it feels almost illicit; something so innocent, so quaint, yet hiding a secret only the driver can reveal.
Make no mistake, this is not simply a pretty face; it is a very effective and comprehensive build.
