Seller's comments about 1989' BMW 6 Series

At the heart of the M635CSi lies the legendary M88/ 3 engine, a 3. 5‑litre naturally aspirated inline-six closely related to BMW’s racing powerplants. Producing around 286 horsepower and paired with a close-ratio five-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive, the M635CSi offered an engaging, driver-focused experience that emphasized precision and balanceover brute force.Just one of 21 UK RHD cars imported in the UK and ordered new by BMW UK as their demonstrator, hence the gorgeous, rare and super expensive factory fitted Alpina alloys and steering wheel.Factory built specifications were already pretty impressive but this Misano Red example we understand has almost every factory option available: (129) Motorsport Edition; (339) de-chroming; (401) electric sunroof; (441) highline equipment; (498) rear-seat head restraints; (510) interior headlight adjustment; (354) graduated tinted screen; (415) rear window blind; (459) memory driver seat; (500) headlight wash wipe; (530) air con; and (850) larger fuel tank. All appear on the factory build sheet, not forgetting the utterly beautiful and unmarked Alpina alloys and perfect to grip Alpina steering wheel. We weren't aware before reading the extensive history file, but BMW offered this unofficial "Motorsport Edition" which were produced in one consecutive batch of 23 examples between October 1988 and January 1989. It included all the normal M635CSI equipment, plus Shadowline exterior trim and M-stripe lapels on the front and rear seats. The UK's necessary option code was "129 Motorsport Edition" and importantly this is clearly visible on this car's factory order/ specification. The last owner purchased this car from a Director of the BMW Car Club, who had in turn after much searching, bought it from the renowned Munich Legends. He subsequently lavished literally thousand of pounds on it, undertaking a glass out respray, full waxoil, new timing chain, head gasket, and replacing both front wings. There's photographic evidence of the wings being replaced plus other works as well. Not surprisingly, he then went on to widely show the car, with it latterly appearing at the NEC Classic Car show too.The wonderful thing here, as you can see from the mileage, it has been properly used and so much the better for it, plus beautifully and correctly maintained. As a consequence, it drives and handles like a dream and most certainly belies its age.A comprehensive written history is present along with original BMW wallet, service and hand books, plus two sets of keys.We would be delighted to arrange a viewing at our Rudgwick (West Sussex) showroom or to discuss this BMW in further detail, please contact Julien Sumner on the details below.
