Seller's comments about 1939' Chrysler P8 Sedan

1939 Chrysler / Plymouth P8 Sedan. 4 door sedan with boot.
Priced at $19, 995 NZD.
Badged Chrysler for export right hand drive to NZ.
Notes from the owner:
Ist owner NZ herald newspaper, then two private owners.
General condition of a totally original car, with original hood lining and door linings in royal blue with tartan upholstery on seats (Hence the highlander designation). Engine 6-cylinder flathead. Gear box 3 speed column change with Borg Warner manual overdrive (cable pull in or out) shifts thru sun and planet gears. Original differential and all good hydraulic brakes. 16-inch wheels with radial tyres and whitewall flappers. good spare wheel and one spare rim.
Work completed during my ownership:
Both windscreens replaced with new safety glass. Small areas of rust removed under sills and boot floor new steel welded in and sealed. Both bumpers and overriders re-chromed. Carburettor reconditioned. Brand new fuel pump fitted head removed. Decoked head planed and new gasket fitted 2024. Radiator flushed 2024. Vacuum wipers rebuilt. New wiper blades. New wing mirrors fitted - original square style. Mileage showing on speedo 88, 922. 5. Car has original valve radio and fitted heater. New petrol tank fitted 2024
Defects.
Front seat bottom is not original tartan covered with non-matching tartan rug.
Paint; has been repainted once in its lifetime from metallic blue/ green original paint to metallic black, paint has some stone chips and some scuff marks but still presents well for age. Engine runs well and gears shift smoothly with column change, but engine heats quickly and runs hot. Suspect it needs the original water dispersion tube replaced.
For those who know these engines the water tube is behind the water pump and directs cool water to the hot parts of the engines block. The asking price reflects the general condition and engine work needed.
There is a spare engine with this car that needs a full recondition. The original drive shaft with worn universals which I replaced with a good 2nd hand one.
HISTORY. First use from new was as a pool car for newspaper and letter distribution in Te Aroha over the Kaimai ranges Tauranga and lower Waikato area. 2nd Owner Ry Tomlin from Paparoa Northland a VCC Member. 3rd owner current in Mangawhai Northland . Don Windley VCC member Warkworth and Wellsford VCC.
Car is currently in Mangawhai Northland viewing by appointment.
