Seller's comments about 1929' Ford Model A

1929 Ford Model A Sedan Almost two dozen body styles in the Model A were available, not including commercial models. The Model A Ford came out before the October 1929 Stock Market Crash and was manufactured through the Great Depression. During this period, Henry Ford continued paying his workers $5 a day. The 20 millionth Ford car was produced on April 14, 1931. It was a slant windshield Fordor. For consignment an all original barn find of the Model A from 1929. With plenty of patina surfaces, major wear on the original leather roof covering, a little rust here and there, and all things considered, very original right down to its engine and interior. A good project car, with most parts present, just in need of some TLC! Exterior A Fordor example (4 doors) all metal body parts are present and accounted for. A dual cowled hood with venting is fronted by the original chromed radiator cover which shows surface rust, dimpling and no radiator cap. The blue oval on the front has some rust in the agate covering. A single headlight on either side is held on by a structural bar cutting across the bow of the radiator and bending into the fender structure. Just below the drivers side headlight is an ah-ooga horn. A chrome dual bar bumper stretches across the front and shows a surface rusted finish. Curved fenders are floating above yellow painted spoked 21-inch steel wheels on front and rear and are attached by a running board. Just above this board are the doors which have a common latching system on the B pillar, creating suicide doors for the rear passengers entry. On back is a large leather and metal edged covered trunk, and this holds another yellow spoked steel spare tire. Dual bumpers curve around the sides and stay away from the middle of the rear. These bumpers are surface rusted like the front, with dual bars. Paint is peeling or scratched off at various locations but is probably original or a very early respray. Wheels appear to have been restored and are in good condition. Interior Lots of metal and wood surfaces, some like the floorboards in front are missing, all awaiting your creative finishing ideas! A blank palette in here with an interior in need of full restoration. Bench front and rear seats, the rear seat has curvaceous arms. All interior surfaces are mohair and will need restoration. The dash is the iconic screaming face mask style, in dimpled chrome. Steering wheel is original, and on the back floor are missing handles and knobs! Drivetrain The original 201ci 4-cylinder engine complete with its 1-barrel carburetor feeding it from the lower side is all there but not currently running. A 3-speed manual transmission is bolted on top the back and the rear axle is designated as 3.78 gear ratio. Undercarriage Surface rust peppers the undercarriage, but there is little seen invasive rust. All frame and floorboards are sturdy, as are the body hangers. The only area of note is where the body attached to the floorboards and is bolted fast, some rust is noted that has bent this junction. Transverse leaf springs are all around underneath, as are mechanical drum brakes. The exhaust is rotted a bit at the end pipe underneath. Drive-Ability This car does crank by hand, but it would not run on its own, so no test drive was attempted. A barn find awaiting the capable hands of a potential restorer who will then have a fabulous example of an all original 1929 Model A in their vision. These cars came a multitude of colors and you could even use your own...that is the beauty of a barn find!
