Seller's comments about 1965' Jaguar Mark II
Jaguar MkII 3. 4 Manual Overdrive in Golden Sand. Supplied new in Bath, Somerset, and was first registered on the 26th August 1965. Finished in its factory colour of Golden Sand, DHY is understood to be among the earliest MkII saloons to benefit from Jaguar's all-synchromesh gearbox as opposed to the less co-operative Moss box found aboard its older siblings. Further able to boast Laycock de Normanville overdrive and the freer revving 3. 4 litre engine, the four-seater's specification makes it, for some, the MK2 to have. The car is still accompanied by a copy of the old buff logbook. DHY had been specified with many options; they encompassed: A Jaguar dealer-supplied radio with aerial; reclining seats; front seat belts; Fog Ranger front lamps; metallic paint; Triplex front windscreen; two sets of keys; wing mirrors and a lockable petrol cap.
In its previous ownership since 2012, DHY has been the subject of much expense and improvement that has included the overhaul of the engine and numerous other works. A summary of parts fitted includes: Blockley radial tyres, Full brake overhaul, front & rear, master cylinder / handbrake cable, Re-tempered rear springs, GAZ adjustable rear shock absorbers, Rear differential overhaul (Specialist AJS), All-rear suspension bushes, Overdrive unit full overhaul, Wheel bearings. Front suspension overhaul, Full Bell manufacturer stainless steel exhaust system, Both exhaust manifolds replaced with quality new units, Dynamo, Solid-state regular control unit, Solenoid unit, Battery tray, Battery cover, Ignition system, Carburettor overhaul, Manual choke unit fitted with discreet under-dash switch, Revotec thermostatically controlled electric fan system, Water pump, Engine damper, Engine cut-off switch (under-dash), Clutch master unit, Clutch Slave Cylinder, Radiator re-cored, BAS carpets full set throughout, BAS overmats in a contrasting colour, All Fur-flex door seal, Replacement trim in fitted in contrast with the original interior, Wood door cappings / dash / picnic tables all stripped, repaired and relacquered by Joe Crabtree (Ex Rolls Royce at Hythe Road), Rear screen rubber surround, Front screen rubber surround, Steering wheel centre (NOS), Electric car clock overhauled, Speedo overhauled, Headlamps x 2 replaced (NOS), Sidelight markers replaced (NOS), Black boot mat (NOS), Windscreen washer bottle unit including motor (NOS), Wiper motor overhauled, Rear bumper & over-riders rechromed, Rear bumper finisher (rubber with chrome tips), Additional sound deadening to further improve the quality of the vehicle (transmission tunnel, rear seat area, floor), Ignition lead original type conduit and the Jacking points replaced x 4. As you can imagine with all tis expenditure upon test drive the car drove incredibly well.
'DHY' featured in Classic Jaguar magazine with an article by Paul Guinness. A very original car, it has a full history file, old tax discs, a collection of old MOTs back to 1986, a collection of invoices dating back decades, a copy of the buff logbook, an older V5 Registration Document, as well as the current V5C. This handsome sports saloon is just waiting to be enjoyed in new hands and is a car that will grace any showground. Absolutely any inspection is welcome.
