Seller's comments about 1970' Lancia Flavia
An absolute rarity from Lancia
The larger sedans of the traditional Lancia brand could be described as Italian Mercedes. The quality of workmanship is still evident today and testifies to the aspirations of the time to offer a luxury car. The Lancia Flavia sedan offered here is something very special, and not only because of its design: in 1970, the last year of the series, only 67 examples left the factory as the 2000 Iniezione LX. As the name suggests, the four-cylinder boxer engine is equipped with a Kugelfischer fuel injection system, similar to those found in German models of the era. The result is a whopping 124 hp from a displacement of two liters.
Quality that lasts
It's astonishing how smoothly the doors close. It immediately brings to mind the famous safe door. Almost 55 years after its first registration, the dignified interior with its extremely comfortable seats still exudes the grandeur with which the stylists of the time designed this classic. The color combination of dark blue paint and a subtle gray interior also fits perfectly.
Everything works as it should. The engine runs silky smooth, the transmission shifts precisely, and the steering and suspension work as expected. Furthermore, this car already features a dual-circuit braking system with four disc brakes. This, too, reflects the luxury-class aspirations of Lancia's engineers.
The History
The Flavia was first registered on August 12, 1970, in the name of Mr. Bazzoli, as revealed by a copy of the original vehicle documents. Further details about its Italian history are unknown. The mileage is recorded. Around 2017, the Lancia came to Germany to a German-Italian who did his own repairs and also hired professionals like the BF Touring Garage. The extensive work carried out there alone accounts for approximately €8, 500. The car is currently registered to its second German owner and has rarely been driven in this country.
The Condition
Over the past eight years, a great deal of work and money has been invested in the car to upgrade its technical and visual appearance. This included extensive work on the brake system and transmission. The interior floor pan was also derusted, painted, and then fitted with appropriate insulation. Photos of much of this work are available for viewing. According to the previous owner, the car is still unwelded to this day. Random measurements of the paint layers suggest that some of the car is still in its original coat. The measured layer thicknesses ranged between just under 90 and approximately 350 micrometers/ micron. This value can occasionally deviate slightly if a small dent has been filled or puttyed. The body, paint, and trim show manageable signs of wear and age. The same applies to the beautifully preserved interior with its many beautiful details and the curtains on the rear window. Only the "modern" CD radio with changer in the trunk could perhaps be better replaced with a contemporary unit. This could of course be organized upon request.
Conclusion
If you love something special and have a passion for Italian cars, this car is certainly worth considering. In my opinion, the Lancia is in an authentic condition with only minor signs of wear and tear, something you don't often find these days. Furthermore, it drives much more comfortably and "modern" than its design suggests. The likelihood of finding a second example at an event is about as likely as winning the lottery.
The car is still registered to the current owner and is being offered on his behalf. Price negotiations on-site are always welcome. We are also happy to discuss an inspection and renewal of the MOT.
