Seller's comments about 1972' Land Rover Lightweight

For sale, through JOHN BROWN 4X4 LTD, Land Rover® Lightweight in Drab Olive (1972).
Petrol 2286cc. MOT with no advisories until 6th June 2024, but exempt anyway. Tax Exempt. Bonnet Mounted Spare. Front & Rear Bumperettes. NATO Hitch. Heater with Demist. Strong history file of previous receipts for work carried out. Cut off Switch.
We are delighted to present for sale this early Land Rover® Lightweight, finished in the Drab Olive Colour scheme, with Khaki Canvas & Green Wheels.
Externally, this has all the features one would hope to see - the vintage number plates, front and rear bumperettes, bonnet mounted spare, bridging plate to the front grill, NATO hitch to the rear, along with a recent canvas to complete the look. There are some more modern additions to make life easier - such as the larger mirrors to aid visibility to the driver, and the road-biased tyres which still give that strong look without sacrificing road-holding ability. In our opinion, we think this makes for a striking and well sorted lightweight.
On the inside, the interior is largely standard and gives that authentic Lightweight feel and charm - with three standard front seats, along with matting to the footwells. The heater with front demist is still fitted - handy for all weathers to prevent icing or freezing up. The rear is unfitted, with the exception of a load mat to protect the floor area - just as it would've been in service.
Out on the road is where this Lightweight really stands out, though - it has an MOT, which was put on by the previous keeper before our purchase. This is without advisories - something which is very difficult to achieve on all Series Land Rovers® when facing the new, more stringent MOT test, which is designed for modern vehicles only (hence the rolling exemption now afforded to them). It has a well sorted feel behind the wheel - perhaps due to the large folder of receipts which were supplied with the vehicle, with lots of evidence of previous work carried out during ownership by previous keepers. The petrol engine is a joy, and it stops well too... we really enjoyed our test route - particularly when looking in the newly polished shop windows of Thirsk - quite a reflection! A cut off switch is fitted for both security and to prevent long term battery drains if the vehicle is going to be parked up for longer periods of time.
In summary, if you are looking for a Land Rover® Lightweight with no frills, a good history and a rare and desirable colour scheme that is a bit different, then this could be for you. With the added bonus of classic/ military insurance, MOT & Tax Exemption and a low "buy in" price to start with, this promises to be both cost effective to own and if kept in good condition, an asset for the future.
