1968 Land Rover Series 2A Petrol 88” First registered 01/ 08/ 1968 This lovely Land Rover is fresh from its restoration (only 100 miles since rebuild) and ready for the new owner to get in and go immediately. Superb bronze green Series 2A thats been subject to a full professional nut and bolt restoration with a new galvanised chassis, galvanised bulkhead a new rear tub. This era of Series 2A comes with better wipers and heater than earlier models yet still retains the classic “lights in the grill” design This restoration by an enthusiast who has restored many series 2 & 3 Land Rovers over the last 15 years and is a lovely example ready to be enjoyed. A brief resume of works carried out: A new Richards chassis has been used with rear cross member painted black as factory original. New Galvanised bulkhead (Sheilder) A new reproduction rear Tub supplied by Outback motorcycles and Engineering. Made with thicker grade aluminium and finished to original spec . Galvanised Tub supports New panels including new old stock (NOS) front outer wings, Paintman Panel doors and door tops Rear tailgate is original correct period version with the 4 galvanised slide ribs (not the series 3/ defender part that is now only available) Engine is a later 5 Bearing fully reconditioned unit that runs beautifully and sweetly. 3 syncro Gearbox has been restored and is as quiet and smooth as they come. All running gear / axle parts, seals/ brakes etc all new LWB 11 inch front/ rear drums with twin piston provides stronger braking. New Parabolic springs and Girling shocks New exhaust. Total new electric system with new Autosparks loom with Alternator conversion all to original spec Indicators fitted and new lighting New Deluxe front seats on Galvanised frames with 3 point inertia seatbelts along with new rear bench seats. Original steering wheel fully refurbished and has a beautiful leather cover with white stitching. New Avon Rangemaster tyres x 5 on fully restored steel wheels finished in Limestone. New AVG freewheeling hubs The whole body was taken back to bare metal and epoxy primed with 3 further coats of 2 pack Deep Bronze Green paint to a lovely gloss finish All panels painted individually before being fitted up with subframes eg bonnet so the dome rivets are correct aluminium colour not bodged over in paint! New Under Covers hand made Canvas Hood in sand colour with side windows. All galvanised cappings, grille, window frame and original hood sticks all re galvanised as new.
