Seller's comments about 1957' Land Rover Series I

Ex Civil Defence 88" SERIES ONE
Older restoration. All original galv and looks great.
SOLID CHASSIS and VERY GOOD bulkhead
The replacement Front seats are all in good condition
Lovely straight body on this Land Rover, All bodywork appears original.
The overall condition is very good. This Land Rover is in mostly original condition, it still retains the original bonnet mounted horn as an example.
Original 2ltr Petrol, matching numbers engine. Engine runs nice and smoothly.
Running vehicle with a long trail of MOT history. (sold twice by Land Rover Dealers in recent years)
Benefits from a refurbished Carburettor, Distributor and new Fuel Tank by the current owner.
Lots of photos of this vehicle on the SXF database
Location Worcestershire/ Shropshire border - Cleobury Mortimer.
PRICE £15, 850 offers invited
sold by JOHN BROWN 4X4 Dec 2012
sold by CHURCHILL 4X4 Aug 2013
The current owner has spent money on rectifying faults with the vehicle and the engine now runs very well.
Independently inspected by a former LAND ROVER engineer and valued realistically March 2024
All tyres are perished and are all in need of replacement
The "rear cross member" and the two "bulkhead outriggers" have been fabricated and replaced by someone with zero engineering experience. They are poorly made chassis repair sections which really spoil this vehicle.
These homemade chassis parts have been on the vehicle for many years possibly 20 plus years ago. Both bulkhead outriggers are open at the bottom and need to be boxed in for structural reasons.
The rear cross member has been welded on about 20MM too far back and poorly attached to the body. The Rear cross member simply requires cutting off and replacment with a new one.
With a set of new tyres and the three chassis faults sorted you will have a very tidy SXF Series one.
Priced to sell and open to sensible offers.

I have a video of engine running and many more pictures.
This LAND ROVER at half the price of a fully restored Series one would make someone a great easy start in to SERIES ONE ownership.
Delivery can be arranged
Generally around £1. 50 per mile one way.
