Seller's comments about 1966' Lotus Cortina

Totally restored
Original shell, engine, carbs , gearbox etc
Full History and correct numbers
Same owner for last 30 years and only 3000 miles covered during that time
Valued as £ 50+k by Lotus Cortina Register in 2018

I purchased the car from Andy Middleton Ltd (Liverpool). in 1992 It was quite rough so I hardly used it and eventually put into storage. In 2014 , 20 years later I had a reawakening to Lotus's and started a 3 year ‘nut & bolt’ restoration. Shell was bare metal stripped by SPL (Dudley) and all corroded panels necessary were sourced from Express Panels Ltd. When completed it was again stripped and electrophorically dipped, so treated to modern standards.  Shell was then seam sealed, 2k resprayed in exact colours, Dinitrol & Waxoil treated

Every single component was stripped and reconditioned or replaced.
Cylinder head was refurbished by Oselli Ltd including new valve guides and then pressure tested - they also crack tested crank / rods plus balanced flywheel. Engine block was only on standard bore but taken out to +020” pressure tested and Omega pistons fitted. Crank ground to +010” – all ancillaries were replaced, mostly sourced from QED & Burtons. Carbs were rebuilt by Weber specialists (Southern Carburettors). Full stainless exhaust system plus new clutch and diff fitted plus gearbox professionally rebuilt – propshaft had new joints and rebalanced

Seats and interior were totally retrimmed by Aldridge (Wolverhampton) and correct Lodestar headlining sourced. Instruments and gauges reconditioned by Speedy Cables. Wheels bead blasted and electorphorically treated by SPL - five new tyres fitted.

New callipers and rear brake cylinders plus both masters changed, servo restored by ‘Stage 1’ All brake pipes replaced with original grey piping, bent on original jigs.

Correct new rear springs sourced, all shock absorbers, bushes steering joints replaced and steering box refurbished. New windscreen and all glass rubbers replaced.

Rebuild was completed in 2018 and vehicle certificated by the Lotus Register (FNN/ 18) with comment “body repairs & mechanical work have been carried out to a high standard” Mileage since amounts to less than 800, so not even yet run in.

Car is presented with full history, original green logbook , all receipts, certification and full photo documentation of restoration.

Genuine cars are hard to find but this one represent a superb investment so offers invited in the region of £ 59k
