MG B MKII When MG launched the MGA in 1955, the car soon became a reference in terms of its style and performance. In May 1962, MG launched its successor, the MGB. Instead of the traditional body-on-frame construction, this car had a unitary structure, which increased its strength. Wind-up windows and a comfortable driver’s compartment offering plenty of legroom became the new standard. The first model of the MGB range to be produced was an open roadster. In 1965, a 2+2 coupé GT was added to the range. The engine of the MGA was chosen for its drivetrain, although it was increased from 1588cc to 1798 cc, and horsepower to 95bhp. The first big change in the MGB’s design dates from 1965 when the three-main-bearing engine was replaced with a five-main-bearing crankshaft design. The second generation was introduced in 1967 and featured synchromesh on all four gears. An alternator was used in place of the dynamo. From then on, reversing lights were included as a standard feature on all cars. ‘Collection by Vermant’ is pleased to offer this magnificent May 1969 MGB MKII. The car was imported by the official importer for MG ‘Molenaar’ and was delivered to ‘Garage Zoet’ in The Hague, the Netherlands. It had a colour combination of ‘Old English White’ with a black faux leather interior. The ‘B’ is the much-coveted model, featuring the stunning steel dash. It has a 1. 8lt four-cylinder engine, transferring 95bhp to the rear wheels. The overdrive unit is operational in the third and fourth gears of the four-speed manual gearbox. The last owner also made a substantial investment in this lovely sports car. The body underwent a full paint job, in ‘Iris Blue’, which is an original MGB paint colour. New chrome spoke rims, bumpers and a luggage rack add a nice finishing flourish to this stunner. The engine and the gearbox were also completely revised! The result is a gorgeous ‘Roadster’, that is in mint technical condition. The black interior and vinyl roof were also recently replaced. The hood is also made from vinyl. The MGB MKII comes with Belgian registration documents. The car will undergo maintenance in our own workshop before being handed over to its new owner.
