Seller's comments about 1948' MG T-Type

We last saw this stunning, fully rebuilt MG TC in December 2022. We sold the car unseen to a new customer purchasing it as a surprise for his wife at Christmas. We delivered the car with just 47 miles covered since a full complete nut and bolt rebuild and it returns to us now with little under 200 miles covered. The MG has been thoroughly enjoyed, as proven a delight to own and is now being sold as the couple are emigrating.

In 2020 this 1948 MG was sold requiring full restoration and over a two years period the TC was put through a no expense spared program of work taking the car to an exceptional standard. Accompanying the MG TC is a photo book detailing some of the major aspects of the rebuild along with thousands of pounds worth of invoices.

The MG was taken back to the bare chassis that was found to be in remarkably sound condition. The chassis was treated and painted, and the suspension, braking system all renewed to include rebuilding king pin assemblies, rebuilding the original shock absorbers, new spring and shackle bushes, new wheel bearings, new brake shoes, wheel cylinders and master cylinder. The road wheels were restored, a new wiring loom installed, and all instruments and switches overhauled. Work on the electrics also included a port for phone/ sat nav, Halogen headlights, rebuilt dynamo and distributor. The fuel system was renewed with a new tank, fuel pump, braided hoses, and rebuilt SU carbs.

The engine was completely rebuilt and re-bored to +30 with new pistons fitted. All faces were skimmed, the crankshaft re-ground on main and big end journals and a new oil pump and clutch fitted. The cylinder head was re-conditioned, the gearbox stripped and checked and found to be excellent so only required new gaskets and the rear axle treated to new seals. The body required a brand new ash frame and the original steel panels were restored as necessary - the photo record highlights the extent of this major work. On completion the body was beautifully re-painted, the brightwork re-chromed, a new windscreen fitted, and the upholstery superbly re-trimmed to a very high standard including new hood and side screens.

SXS 233 is still running in with around 200 miles covered since completion. The MG TC has a stunning, clean, and re-painted chassis, stunning bodywork and paintwork and a top-quality interior. On the road the MG is a delight with a strong, fit rebuilt engine, smooth gearbox and impressive road holding. The engine bay is superbly presented having had many hours of detailing, so the TC is now ready to use and enjoy having been totally rebuilt to an exceptionally high standard.
