Seller's comments about 1949' MG TC

Having caught the "T Type" bug in the 1960s and helped a friend to restore his 1936 TA, I decided that restoration was going to be my career. I trained as a mechanical engineer and worked in a garage which had been an MG specialist. All the while working on the restoration of my own 1949 TC. This car I kept for many happy motoring years but eventually family pressures forced it's sale.
On retiring I decided to re-ignite my dormant passion for MGs and searched for a suitable vehicle.

After a long search I found the right car.
A 1949 TC. Much of it's life was spent in Denmark but enquiries have not turned up any information.
It was a runner but was in a sad state of neglect. Much of the wooden body frame was rotten and the steel panels rusted through. The gearbox was noisy and kept jumping out of gear and the steering was awful.
I knew though that with time and a little money this could be a lovely car.

So after an almost total strip down and re-build, 3000+ hours of labour and £12, 000+
of parts, my sad ugly duckling was now a beautiful swan.

While trying to keep the car as original as possible there there have been several modifications to make it practical for modern conditions. The addition of a Peter Edney steering box, indicators and "Alfin" style brake drums have mad a big difference to the handling and safety.
This is not an "out of the factory" concourse car as I have tried to keep the character of it's age intact. It is though a very fine example of this classic marque.
Many photos of the restoration are available as are all the bills
Sadly I am now offering this car for sale
