EXTERIOR
Built at eye-watering cost and fully documented and photographed, the vision behind this unique Cooper S Recreation was quite clear, regardless of cost the car had to look and drive incredibly. Finished in Almond Green with Old English White Roof, the classic Cooper look is complimented with period accessories and rally car styling to include the purposeful working front lamps, bonnet numberplate siting, reversing lamp and twin working fuel tanks. The paintwork boasts and beautiful uniform shine with excellent panel gaps to further affirm the very high standard to which this build has been executed. This 1966 Morris Mini Minor has taken on a new lease of life and is simply brilliant.
INTERIOR
Tastefully uprated throughout to bring the real rally experience to this wonderful interior. Delightful well executed touches such as the period instrument panel with extended toggle switches, map reading lamp and cream-crackle headlining remind you of this Cooper Recreation’s 1966 heritage and the figure-hugging deep buckets seats hold you very very tight! The piping to the driver’s seat is worn. All modifications are done with a purpose and everything operates perfectly including the additional Smiths gauges and an entertaining twin air horn! Attention to detail is phenomenal and it is clear to see this has been created with passionate knowledge. Ready for fun and adrenaline fixes? This Mini has it all and begs to be driven hard!
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The mechanical specification is incredibly comprehensive and forms a documented portion of the total spend amounting to £35, 340. 39 (excluding the purchase cost of the car). In brief, the 1293cc Stage 2 engine and ancillaries have been professionally built using premium components by renowned Jonspeed Racing and uprated where necessary to produce performance figures far in excess of a standard 1966 Mini Minor and more in line with its Cooper S brethren! This Mini is certainly not just a show-pony and even a short exhilaration drive affirms this as you slice through the slick 4-speed gearbox.
WHEELS, TYRES, & BRAKES
Steel Cooper ‘S’ wheels measuring 4. 5x10 inches and finished in immaculate and correct Old English White are shod in premium Yokohama A008 165/ 70 R10 tyres fitted in 2020 and covering just 5 miles. Uprated disc brakes to the front and drums to the rear along with SPAX adjustable shock absorbers and a 2. 2 turn quickrack ensure this Mini handles, turns and stops exactly like a rally car should!
HISTORY FILE
Affectionately known as ‘Fred’ in recognition of the FRD number plate prefix, this Morris Mini Minor was first registered on 21st April 1966. The story of the car in its current form began almost 50 years later when the car was purchased by Mrs Lorraine Hampson, a seasoned classic car enthusiast with an impressive stable of British classics. Mrs Hampson’s vision was very focused, she wanted a Mini Cooper replica to a specific standard and with documented spend of £35, 340. 39 after the purchase of the car, cost was clearly a secondary concern. The history file is colossal with all parts and labour for every aspect of the build, all of which is accompanied and supported with comprehensive photographic evidence. Thorough perusal of the amazing history file which includes the original Morris Mini Minor handbook and supplement will consume many pleasurable hours, but the real fun starts when you see and drive the car! Sold by KGF Classic Cars in 2020, we are thrilled to welcome this iconic Mini back whereby it has undergone a thorough inspection, major service and brake overhaul to ensure readiness for the next owners sheer enjoyment!
