Seller's comments about 1961' Morris Minor

The “Minor 1000” arrived in 1956 with several improvements; a new 948cc engine and gearbox, new front and rear screens and more modern trim and body styling. BMC’s policy of rationalisation meant that many components were shared with other models, improving mass production and the increased performance was aimed at a new generation of motorway age buyers. This car is a 1961 Minor 1000 Deluxe in its original colour of “Clipper Blue” with a “Blue-Grey” interior. It was bought new in 1961 by Mrs Dorothy Money of the Vicarage, Arkley and supplied to her by Nuffield’s export division - the reasons for this are unclear - but the paperwork shows that it remained in the UK. The original registered number was 267BXM, the number plate KFF482 is actually a cherished plate purchased by a previous owner. It was comprehensively restored in the 90’s and has covered 18, 000 miles since. In 2014 it was further improved to “concours” standards going on to win several Minor shows. An article in CCW covering it’s meticulous upkeep is with the car. We bought this Minor as a bereavement sale and consequently have carried out some re-commissioning. Ten years after any significant refurbishment work the car has mellowed slightly and there are a few tiny imperfections but it is still in sublime condition. It is also detail correct as you can see from the interior and engine bay, other than a spin on oil filter conversion, period style “P700” headlamps and a “ribbed case” gearbox as fitted to the 1098cc cars, which allows better cruising. As you would expect, it runs and drives as well as it looks. Completing the picture is a comprehensive history file including every document from when the car was new; service book, buff logbook, order form, warranty sheet, repair charges book, lubrication chart, accessories brochure plus substantial invoices and comprehensive photos of the restoration.Early four door Minors 1000 models are rare and Clipper Blue – arguably the best colour - was only available for two years. This car was ordered with flashing indicators (which was still an option in ’61) and is one of the last produced where leather trim was standard specification on the “Deluxe” version making it rare or perhaps unique in this configuration.Viewing Biddulph, ST8.Please call if more info is required.
