Seller's comments about 1958' Packard Series 58L
1958 Packard Series 58L 4 Door Sedan. Significantly rare only 2,034 of the three standard Packard models (sedan, hardtop and station wagon) were produced and restyled by Duncan McRae, changes for 1958 included Quad headlights and following the tailfin craze this car had forward looking rear outward-canted steel fin extensions that were mounted to the tops of the existing vertical rear fenders that enclosed chrome trimmed taillight lenses. Rounded points on the rear bumper are directly under the fins creating a balanced symmetrical look. In the front a unique looking low, wide fish mouth grille was used. Factory Air Conditioning with under the dash vents and controls. Engine 289 cubic inch small block making 225 horsepower. 4 barrel carburetor. A top mounted modern style oil filter is definitely unique. Generator. Power steering and Power Front Brakes. The Brown interior is pristine and looks amazing. 2 tone Brown with a Tan stripe bench seat. Beautiful dash pad has no rips or tears or sun bleaching. Two texture and two color door panels look great. A slightly rust/brown color carpeting creates a nice contrasting look. A stainless steel gauge cluster plate encases actual gauges, not warning lights, a large speedometer and original AM radio. Paint is P-5818 Canyon Copper Polyurethane. Another notable change was an attractive hardtop roofline similar to the Chrysler/Desoto designs. Switching to a one-piece drive shaft the engineers were able to flatten the floor, which also allowed them to flatten the roof. An elegant White stripe outlined with trim runs down the side of the car from fender tip to the lower rear fin along with a matching White section on the roof. The change to 14 wheels from larger wheels made the 1958 Packard noticeably lower. Steel hubcaps feature a red hexagon in the center and a black painted ring. Wide white wall poly tires.
