Comentarios del vendedor sobre 1972' Vauxhall Viva
Hello and welcome to the AD for my 1972 Vauxhall Viva HC deluxe.
It’s a 1256cc OHV with the Zenith carb, beige interior on a cameo beige body with tan vinyl top.
I’ve had the Viva for coming up 2 years, in my ownership I have given the engine a service inc new water pump, tuned and rebuilt the Zenith and gapped the valves, purchased a 2nd pair of wheels with brand new tyres and sorted out some surface rust on one sill, don’t worry I’ve checked inside the panels, there is no corrosion it was just on the outside.
I have hunted down a 2nd carb and inlet being the Stromberg cd150 and a chrome pancake filter – the car runs on the zenith for now, the cd150 still needs to be plumbed in (Create a small fuel pipe, and replace/ add a few rubber hoses)
I have also hunted down a twin headlight front grill – to be adapted with mk3 Capri headlight brackets so that you can run twin lights on the Viva. Also some original polished mud guards/ spats.
The Viva comes with both sets of wheels both original with ALL hub caps and the supalites, both sets have really good tread, in fact the supalite tyres are new.
The previous owner (Charles) used to work at the original Vauxhall plant in his youngers years somewhere outside of Birmingham (Where I purchased and collected the Viva), in his ownership he repaired a dent on the rear and – repainted it, took back the underside then repainted with weld/ anti corrosion paint, overhauled the brakes, took the whole driveline off and refurbished it including the engine WITH photos to prove all of the above also, I can share them at request.
This Viva has stacks, and stacks! Of paperwork, you’ll have a fun time reading through its history, I know I did – it also has its original 1973 paper tax disc!!!
Now, for the honest nitty gritty – I did intend on finishing it off and having it repainted myself, but Covid. It requires the following 1.) Transmission and diff oil changing (Provided with car). 2.) paint either blowing in or a respray, that’s for you to decide, I personally would blow it in as there are only 4 maybe 5 areas to correct. 3.) It needs a bit of welding, nothing I would consider a big job (I weld myself, a proud owner of an Rtech 180) but I can’t find the time to do it now I’m working crazy hours at my job (again Covid), I’ve been trying to get round to it for about 6 months but cannot find the time. I requires one inner front wing strip at a minimum (the part which spot welds the inner and outer panels together), preferably both, see in images. Now don’t mistake this for the inner wings being corroded, the sheet metal itself is spot on! It just requires around 30mm of metal welded in then re-spot welded back together, there’s also a small 50p sized hole in the spare wheel well in the boot, and that is IT for the welding. 4.) lastly, it needs the wiper motor taking apart, greasing up and putting back together again, it works but it blows fuses because its straining. 4. 5.?) maybe a radiator recore? Its not leaking but has seen better days, engine stays cool even in the summer no problems. Also the exhaust isn't original at all, its very loud! But is solid.
If you were to complete the above and blow in the cameo beige, or go all out, repaint and stick a new vinyl top on it (they are available from East Kent Trims), you may have the cleanest 1972 Vauxhall Viva HC 2 door in the UK, and maybe even the coolest if you do the twin headlight mod!
The price is £4750 or near offer, I’m open to a discussion on the price, I don’t expect to make back what I paid for it. Please do organise a viewing, and thanks for reading. Based in Herne Bay – Kent.
More photos avaliable on request, I have images of the engine bay, underside, and the images of the previous owners work.
