For sale in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom is this super cool 1948 Chevrolet Fleetmaster. In the late 1940’s, the Chevrolet Fleetmaster would have been your run of the mill car. That is not to say in any way that it was a bad car. You could get the car in 2-door and 4-door bodies, with a fastback style, standard coupe, or convertible even, with a straight-6 and a 3-speed manual. Great selection for the time, but it was simply transportation.

Fast forward 70 years, and oh how the times have changed for this lucky Fleetmaster. It has been transformed from your ho-hum, average daily driver, to the knockout hot rod full of style that you see here. This Fleetmaster coupe has some great custom body modifications that give it a great double hump style down the side. Starting at the protruding headlights, the first curve flows gently all the way down across the doors, and terminates right in front of the rear wheel. At that point, another dramatic sweeping arch starts up and over the rear wheels, ending with a gentle curvature under the custom tail lights. The fender skirts really seem to accent the graceful sweeping curvature of the rear wheel arch. Tuck in the chrome partial smoothies with wide whites, and this car has nailed the early led sled look. When combined with the air ride on the rear to lay the tail of this car low to the ground, it really gives the car a sleek look from all angles. The bumpers have both been cut down and tucked to give a much more fit look, and the grill is all custom.

Inside, you will find a very roomy cabin for both the front and rear seats. We are personally happy to see a fairly conservative interior treatment, as it retails a lot of the feel of the car, while having enough custom touches to let you know While it retains the extremely cool shifter for the 3 on the tree, exposed linkage and all, this car actually has a TH350 3 speed automatic backing up 350 CID small block Chevy. We aren’t sure what cam is in the motor, but it give is a great chop at idle, really pumping up the attitude of this hot rod. The Fleetmaster is ready to pound some pavement and turn some heads at your local car meet or regional event.
