“Touched by Masters”
“Grand Larsony” is a 1937 Ford Custom, multiple award winner, amazing example of original work done by, Darrell Mayabb & Donn Lowe, of Lowes Customs, then as time passed, Boyd Cottington’s American Hot Rods updated the paint, interior and drivetrain. Painted by Charley Hutton and leather by Gabe’s, tell the story of this one of a kind all steel custom.
It all started in 1984 when “Grand Larsony” was purchased by Darrell Larson in Colorado, it was an all original barn find, in running condition. With only 9965 miles on the clock, the journey began. Darrell Mayabb was contracted for the design illustration work, of what a ’37 Ford would look like with a ’39 deluxe front end, a ’40 hood, ’48 rear window and a lethal dose of chop, channel , sectioned, shave, rounded and smoothed! All molded into a one piece body, all steel and leaded, this work of art represents the best of these creative masters. It hit the streets in Oct 1988 at the Lake Havasu City, Run to the Sun and was a top ten award winner, and it has never looked back, grabbing attention and awards at outings around the country. In 2013 it was featured at the Hot Rod Homecoming event, in Pomona, Cal, honoring its 1990 Hot Rod magazine feature. Appearing on Wayne Carrini’s Chasing cars, tribute to Boyd Cottington episode, “Grand Larsony” has rubbed shoulders with the best. With only 384 miles since a restoration update, maintaining and paying respect to its heritage builders, it is reliable, fast, beautiful and driveable.
