A RHD Sprint GT is now a very rare car, particularly fully restored as Alfa Romeo intended.
This stunning Sprint GT has been the subject of a total nut and bolt restoration with no expense spared. Every part of this car has been inspected and restored where needed, however originality has always been retained where possible. The restoration began with the engine which was treated to a full rebuild including new pistons, liners and rings, all bearings and gaskets. The crank and con rods were measured and inspected and the crank polished at standard clearances. At the same time the gearbox was fully rebuilt; all internal parts were checked and worn components replaced. The rear axle was inspected and restored; new pinion seals and rear wheel cylinders were fitted and the rear caliper mechanisms checked and adjusted.
The suspension was subjected to a full rebuild with the inclusion of an Alfaholics ‘Stage 2’ suspension kit which includes upgrades such as lightweight front springs, 29m front ARB and an aluminium T-Bar. The brakes were fully overhauled with a new master cylinder, servo, brake pipes, flexible hoses and both front calipers were rebuilt with new pistons and seals.
The bodywork was stripped back to a bare shell and fully restored. All corrosion was cut from the metalwork and new panels used where necessary to ensure a perfect shell. The underside of the body was treated and painted in Gravitex stone chip protection and then the whole body was painted in the original Alfa red and all cavities treated with anti-corrosion wax. All the original internal trim was retained including carpets, dashboard and door trims. The seats were also re-bolstered to improve their support, but retained the original covers. A new headliner was also fitted.
All original parts remain with the car, including the suspension, chrome bumpers and steel wheels.
