1932 ALVIS 12/ 50 TJ TWO SEATER & DICKEYThe 1932 Alvis 12/ 50 TJ in the Two-Seater & Dickey configuration represents the final evolution of the iconic Alvis 12/ 50 series. Introduced in 1930, the 'TJ' series brought several refinements to the line, including a separate, taller radiator shell and coil ignition in place of the older magneto system. Equipped with a 1, 479 overhead-valve (OHV) four-cylinder engine.The 'Two-Seater & Dickey' (also called a Tourer or Drophead Coupé with dickey) features a bench seat for two and a fold-out 'dickey' or rumble seat in the rear for occasional passengers.It was fitted with a 4-speed manual gearbox (non-synchromesh).Known for its balanced handling and direct steering, often using a steering box from Marles.The interior of boasted a solid walnut dashboard, leather bench seats, and a full set of instruments. This vehicle had a complete refurbishment and is an older restoration- the dickie seat has never been sat in..There is little documentation to support this. It looks like it's had a replacement engine circa 1954Car number 14269Chassis number 9260Original engine number 9699Current engine number 11831Sadly, some of the dashboard instrumentation has disappeared, but the car is largely complete and in decent condition and would not take much to bring back to serviceable use.The hood extends and retract and there is additional door-top wet weather gear.Only 642 units were produced between 1931 and 1932 but it is thought that no more than around 45 examples exist now.This car is a rare example, ready to be taken to the next level without too much effort, although the car has not been started or run in some years.Offered it no reserve – KV 700 would likely only require rudimentary mechanical decommissioning to become a very usable classic..Vehicle supplied with a current V5 and original buff logbook.This vehicle is for sale as it stands and as described.
