Seller's comments about 1966' Alvis TF21

My Alvis TF21 is still for sale, ZF manual with wires, power steering , 1967 one of the last. I bought it from Chris Prince two years ago with a view to completing it, but the bodyshop here has been very slow and now I have had a change of heart. I know it is not in the UK where the market lies, but it seems to me with so few TFs around and some of those that we have assessed are marginal by any criteria, it is almost a perfect car to restore, without surprises. Very unmolested, needing repairs in the usual places, all external bodywork, but it is not a difficult or complicated restoration which is why I bought it. Please do not confuse it with many others out there. Virtually all the interior would go again. I think Chris had it running a few years ago but it has not run since. The Dunlop brakes will need attention but that is not difficult nor expensive, I can tell you how to buy the piston and cylinder assemblies at reasonable prices or an upgrade if that is what is preferred.
The body restoration has been started, the areas with a small amount of rust have been cut away awaiting new metal. The guys here thought is would be relatively straight forward and I am inclined to agree withem. The pictures do not do it justice, I went to Barcelona recently and spent several hours going through everything in great detail. Apart from a very small rust hole on one of the inner panels, there is no rust underneath at all. It will require sills and the work around the headlamps will need to be done a bit better, but my bodyman here did not see that as a problem. Apart from that it is a question of using new metal to replace the areas cut away and one or two others on the lower wings, but really not much. It is such a genuine car in this regard.
The TF is a very rare and desirable car, definitely undervalued compared to what else is out there. Is it really only worth 10% of an Aston or half the price of an AC Greyhound?? Surely that cannot be right?? In order to encourage a sale, I have reduced the price again, it is less than I paid for it, which seems strange.
With its three carburetters and power steering along with a later ZF five speed box, the TF is . in my view. the model to buy if you are looking for a post war Alvis.
Since purchasing I have bought new wheels and nearly new tyres and a set of new bumpers and over riders which I will include in the sale. There are various other parts, ruuber seals etc. and a head gasket set.
The car is complete, RHD and registered in the UK. It is presently in Barcelona but the price includes transport back to the UK, so as long as you are not in one of the far reaches of the country, the car will be delivered to your door. The transport companies have now sorted out the way to do it post Brexit. They are in Spain every five to six weeks. There will be nothing more for you to pay. I have used their services on a number of occasions, it all works well now. If you do not require this service, I will obviously discount the price accordingly.
I have been informed that the value of the ZF5-20 gearbox alone is nearly half the asking price, (if you could ever find one!), but this one would not be one to dismantle, it is far too good and original and unmolested. There is a large history file indicating previous work carried out, so you should not assume that no work has been done and that it has been an abandoned project, it is most certainly not.
i have owned other Alvis models before and regard them very highly.
You are most welcome to come and see it, I would urge you to do so. I can pick you up from Barcelona or Reus airport. You could make a weekend of it or incorporate a short holiday.
