Seller's comments about 1937' Austin 7

1937 Austin 7 Nippy

Introduced in 1934, the Nippy followed on from the previous ‘65’ Sports model. The new model featured a stronger steel body which was to prove more durable than the earlier aluminium bodied version.

This example has been the subject of a major restoration carried out over a number of years and only completed recently and still requires running-in.

A replacement chassis was acquired and slowly the car began to take shape with literally every component being either renewed or replaced.

The expenditure far exceeds the asking price and a full detailed list of costings and all work carried out is available.

The engine was rebuilt by a highly regarded specialist and fitted with a Phoenix crank and rods. The camshaft was reprofiled to ‘fast road’ specification by Kent Camshafts. The sump is the correct finned aluminium item and a reconditioned Zenith 30 VM-5 carburettor is fitted as originally used on this model. The gearbox is the appropriate sports type with close ratios.

Finished in Signal Red with black wings, the hood and hood bag are also new as is the trim.

A rare opportunity to acquire one of the most sought-after models of Austin Seven, it is certain to attract considerable interest at any events.
