Seller's comments about 1989' BMW 6 Series

The 635CSi Highline represents the final and most refined evolution of BMW’s iconic E24 6 Series, a grand tourer that blended both performance & luxury, whilst its specification elevated the car into a more exclusive and opulent category, appealing to drivers who wanted both sporting character and comfort. The E24 is instantly recognizable thanks to its long, low silhouette and the iconic “shark nose” front end. The forward-leaning grille and slim headlights give the car a predatory stance, while the wide C-pillars and frameless doors reinforce its coupe identity.Where the Highline truly set itself apart from other sporting coupes of this era was the interior. BMW went all-in on luxury, covering nearly every surface with premium Nappa leather including the dashboard, door cards, centre console, and even the A and C pillars. Wonderfully comfortable electrically adjustable sports seats with memory function for the drivers side, also graced the oppulent interior.Powered was delivered by BMW’s legendary M30B35 inline-six engine, producing around 215 horsepower, this naturally aspirated 3. 5-litre unit delivers smooth, linear power that became a hallmark of BMW’s big six-cylinder engines. From the factory build sheet on file we know our superb "Royal Blau" example here is a late Highline version with the following factory specification: 0291-two piece cross spoke alloys, 0301-door mirror driver lock heated, 0354-green tinted upper strip to windscreen, 0401-electric tilt/ slide sunroof, 0415-rear sun blind, 0441-smokers package, 0459-electric seat with memory, 0481-sports seats, 0498-electric headrests, 0500-headlight washwipe, 0510-ajustable headlamps, 0530-air-conditioning, 0708-M Sport steering wheelAlthough a Highline, thus supplied with 2 piece cross spoke alloys & shod with Michelin TRX 240/ 55VR15, it's immediately obvious that this car has been latterly shod with "one-piece" CSI alloys.... this was carried out by the last keeper who was disabled and preferred the ride on the narrower 220/ 55VR15 profile tyres. Both the unmarked alloys and correct TRX tyres (all 6mm+) have only covered a modicum of mileage since being replaced (circa 3, 500 miles) by the previous keeper. Being a renowned motoring journalist of some distinction, his switch in my opinion is certainly a clever one, as it certainly diminishes the NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) associated with a wider tyre and eliminates the ongoing expense and slender availability nowadays of the Michelin TRX tyres! The "Royal Blau" paint work present exceptionally well given it's 37 years old, with only a handful of small stone chips evident. The luxurious "Natur" (parchment leather) is in remarkable condition, being virtually unmarked apart from an old telephone installation scar just under the handbrake, which we have attended too. The seats are supremely comfortable with all the electric adjust working as they should.Given some parts of the original exhaust were passed their best, we have for longevity, fitted a new stainless exhaust version. A thorough pre-sale check/ service/ mot was also undertaken and as a result, a soft brake pedal was noticed; remedy was simply the fitment of a new brake reservoir seals. These cars cover mileage with consummate ease, thus unusual to find one with just 79, 000 and to some degree better value perhaps when compared to the BMW Motorsport product on the market.Present are two sets of keys, original glovebox torch, a full book pack along with invoices and MOT certificates dating back to the nineties, all of which help verify its low mileage.Pleasingly, previous keepers, ourselves included, have left the original rear window "Ian Anthony" dealer stick and their number plates in place, as we feel, albeit they are slightly worn, originality is key.We would be delighted to arrange a viewing at our Rudgwick (West Sussex) showroom or to discuss this BMW in further detail, please contact Julien Sumner on the details below.
