Seller's comments about 1967' Daimler 420 Sovereign
Daimler Sovereign 420 1967 Registered as Historic Vehicle so MOT and Tax exempt The time has come to part with an old friend. She was originally a automatic but was changed to Manual Gearbox many decades ago buy a previous owner. The good parts Huge amount of work done on the car whilst trying to keep it as usable as possible. Some of the work includes New Stainless-Steel Exhaust throughout New servo New copper brake pipes throughout New callipers and brake pads front and back Fully refurbished Front and rear suspension including all bearings New Carpet in Cabin area Cleaned and recoloured seats in original colour as near as I could get. Bodywork stripped down and Rust cut out and new metal welded in. Body repainted in original colour New Vredestein tyres including spare. New front bumper otherwise all chrome work original Engine Original and runs well but has had Refurbished SU Carburettors and Fuel lines. Oil and filters all changed New Radiator and hoses throughout New Plugs, leads points, solenoid Starts and drives.
The not so good parts The paintwork is poor, from a distance it looks OK but there was not enough preparation before painting resulting in a poor finish The Clutch thrust race bearing needs replacing (its noisy) as I suspect does the clutch although it works fine, the travel is quite long (the pedal is high before clutch disengages) The car drives fine but is a little more Smokey than I would have liked. I have not driven it on the road as I would prefer it to go through an MOT for my own peace of mind, and I haven’t got around to it yet She was originally an automatic but was changed to Manual Gearbox many decades ago. The brakes whilst working fine, have a vacuum system to retain pressure when the engine isn’t running which I don’t fully understand to make work correctly and have therefore disconnected. The brakes are still good when the engine is running which is whenever its being driven. Unfortunately, I misjudged the ramp one day and the car slipped down the side damaging the bottom of the offside wing. This can be repaired without replacing the wing but I have lost enthusiasm for the car now. The idea was to make a good Daimler to drive regularly but not worry about the odd scratch of car park dink If that’s what you like too it could be for you, if you want a concours car change you price range. So, the time has come to let someone else rectify the things that need doing. Car comes with loads of spares including woodwork. The Air-filter housing is also present although not in the pictures. I have tried to be as honest a possible about the car. The price I will accept is £5, 000, not a penny less, which is a fraction of what’s been spent on the car, but at the very least one could take all the new parts off and put them on yours, if I can’t get that, it will stay in the garage until I get enthusiastic about it again No test drives unless/ until its Mot’d by me or by you. Trailer away which I can help with as have my own trailer.
