INT. CODE: RDS00498 The last of the Balilla was the Fiat 508C, a completely new car that Fiat initially officially called Nuova Balilla 1100 (see the posters advertising of the time) but that motorists always and only called "1100". In 1938 the Fiat 508L (Lungo) was built, a 508C with an extended wheelbase and 6 seats, two of which on foldaway folding seats that disappear behind the front seats. Two versions were produced: a sedan similar in all respects to the classic model (including the opening of the doors), but with the third light at the end of the side; a taxi with a partition behind the driver - made up of sliding windows - and with a column on the sides, in correspondence with the partition, on which the doors were hinged, thus opening in the opposite direction to the 4 and 6-seater sedans. On the 1100 L chassis, two Truck versions were placed side by side with 580 kg of capacity (plus 1 person = 650 kg total): "Camioncino" with wooden body and "Furgoncino" as the rare example in question. This 1100 L was registered in 1948 as a truck and had as its first owner a well-known and important newspaper printed in Milan which used it for "Trasporti Giornali". Later it passed into the hands of a large textile merchant from Florence who used it to transport reels of fabric. This rare specimen has reached the present day totally preserved as of origin.
