Seller's comments about 1959' Fiat 500

First series Vespa 400, completely restored in my workshop. It was disassembled "down to the last screw", all sheet metal and paint, engine, suspension, electrics were done, new tires, battery, etc. were installed. The car looks like new. It has traveled approximately 120 km since the renovation. The car meets all the conditions to be registered as a microcar. Vespa 400 is a microcar with a rear engine, produced by ACMA in Fourchambault, France, from 1957 to 1961 according to the designs of the Italian company Piaggio. Three different versions were sold: "Luxe", "Tourisme" and "GT". The car had its famous public debut on September 26, 1957, during a press presentation held in Monaco. The 400 was a two-seater with room behind the seats that could accommodate luggage or two small children on an optional cushion. The front seats had simple tubular metal frames with fabric upholstery on flexible "springs", and between the seats were the handbrake, starter and choke. The gearshift was mounted centrally in the floor. The hinged rear doors are covered on the inside with only a thin plastic cladding attached to the metal skin of the door panel, providing valuable additional interior space. In early cars, the windows in the main doors did not open, which was met with criticism, but they increased the usable width for the driver and passenger. The instrumentation was very basic and included only a speedometer and low fuel warning lights, high beams, dynamo charging and turn signals. The convertible top could be rolled from the windshield rail to the top of the rear engine cover, leaving the conventional metal sides above the doors. The 12 V battery was located at the front of the car, behind the front grille, on a pull-out shelf. The spare tire was located in the well under the passenger seat.
